In short: 2012 race
In full: This is a well organised race - although very low key. It is a bit hilly but there are plenty of flat bits especially around Paignton Green and most of the last km is downhill. I didn't get anywhere near a PB, but had had a cold, so I suspect I could probably do it a bit more quickly when properly fit.

There were two things I didn't like - why send out the number but ask people to collect the chip? Why not just ask people to collect their race packs on the day and save the postage for the numbers? The other thing was there was no water at the finish (there was a water station en route but I didn't take any water on there because I thought I would at the end). I may have been told that, but it's the only race I've ever done with no water at the end.

I liked the medal and would do the race again.

In short: Very Good Race
In full: I ran this last weekend (26/8/12)whilst on holiday and thought it was a very good race.
I thought the organisation to be good, I certainly didn't have any problems. I didn't see anybody cheat by going around the Paignton bit once instead of twice.
It is a bit strange joining up with other runners like that, but it's fine I guess if you are overtaking, but not so good if you are being overtaken quite a bit.
I thought the course was a bit more undulating than I expected. A good challenge though, but if you have a PB set on the flat as most people do, then you shouldn't really be able to set one on this course.
Nice medal at the end.

In short: Fairly decent run. Photography seems poor and rules not enforced.

In short: enjoyable evening run
In full: as a newcomer to runs ound the lack of a chip mat at the beginning confusing - we were at back at start and didnt rush to get going as waiting for the chip mat only to realise eventually there was none. A note on the pre-race info to stay the start was a klaxon or gun - didnt hear either! would be useful

In short: Good race with nice scenery and a few hills!
In full: Second time for me at this (local) race. Earlier start time ensured decent support but temperature a bit warm for me. Did better last year in the pouring rain! Lack of chip starting mat not really a problem - chip time 15s slower than my watch - I can live with that. Nice medal, but agree with others that a flapjack or something would have been good.

In short: well organised sunday evening race
In full: well done to torbay ac. another well organised race. smooth start, enough marshals at key points, plenty of support on the course esp at paignton green. lovely views of the coastline even if i did have much chance to enjoy it! cheeky climbs which ruined my chance of a PB. thank you.

In short: Good race well organised
In full: Well organised and marshalled thanks. Comment about no start mat - well no different from a lot of other 10 k races where there are no time chips so not a big deal. Having read last years reviews the organisers did pick up on things and improved them - specifically the finish organisation and time clock -good to see.

In short: Would Run Again Next Year
In full: This was my first time at the Torbay 10k and I wasnt quite sure what to expext. When I see undulating on the description my first thought is "oh great more hills".
The course itself was quite good, the hills were not as bad as I was expecting and I managed to run everyone.
Heard a couple of people say they were disappointed with gun to chip time, but I had my own GPS so went by that time.
Medal at the end was okay, but I would have liked maybe a banana or flapjack too just for the energy boost.
Will probably do it again next year.

In short: Chip timing a farce with no start mat and no goodies
In full: Nice run along the sea front, but little atmosphere, timing chip - no start mat so the further back at the start the slower your time and no treats (they used to give nice T shirts)

In short: Pretty scenery but little atmosphere
In full: Plus points are a nice course with good PB potential and enthusiastic marshalls and spectators despite the torrential rain.
Negative points include zero atmosphere at the start, just a barely audible megaphone calling you to a far from clear start point, with no attempt at sorting into likely times to get you up to best pace; 2 laps of Paignton Green both boring and, potentially, demoralising as the pacesetters streak past you; inability to run through to the finish as it was backed up some 20 metres or so; and a rather poor momento. Glad I did it but not enough positives to make me want to come back.
