In short: Excellent race and a PB - hope to be back In full: Was at first sceptical about the half marathon starting 2 hrs into the main event, but it worked well. Certainly provides company. Hills on 3rd quarter up to Beccles took their toll, though thankfully the last 1/4 was flat. Weather too warm for my liking. Excellent momentos. Marshalling was top drawer. Downside - no massage as promised and no hot water for the showers. Date of review: April 5, 2007

In short: Tougher than expected, well organised marathon. Would do it again if it weren't so far from home. In full: The course profile gives the impression of mountainous peaks for the first half of each lap... on the second lap a lot of people felt this was the correct impression!
I was very surprised when it took until 21+ miles for the first half marathoner to go past! Found out later that they'd started late (didn't think I was running THAT quickly!).
I think it's a great idea to set the half marathon off after the marathon - gives the halfers people to chase down and reduces the loneliness of the second lap for the marathoners (no chance of 90% of your running goup disappearing at half-way!).
Overall, a great day, worth the 5 hours in the car each way (not sure my legs agreed on the trip home). Excellent mementoes (cut glass block and emboidered towel) - much more useful and impressive than a medal.
Thanks to Bungay Black Dog for organising a great race - encouraging marshalls, plenty of water and sponge stations, just a shame they were let down on the day by the massage provider (was looking forward to that :-(

In short: This is a must for marathon runners 2 laps to test the best! In full: Well done Bungay Black Dogs for a well organise and friendly race. The course is challenging 2 laps with a series of hills between 2 and 6 which are repeated at 15 and 19. You will certainly know about them on the second lap. Weather this year was kinder than expected some headwinds, but not as bad as the weatherman hsd reported. The Sun was quite qarm when out of the wind resulting in the first touches of sunburn. Plenty of water and sponge stations well manned and always ready. Marshall were excellent throughout friendly and encouraging. At the end one of the best momentoes ever a crystal block with a laser cut "Black Dog" plus an event embroidered towel. Date of review: April 2, 2007

In short: Tough Marathon In full: This was my fourth marathon & definately the toughest, due to the hills in the first six miles of each lap. The first lap was fine but the second lap really got to me & had to walk more than i usually do.Marshalls & water/sponge station attendants were brilliant & played vital role in getting me round. Hope to be back next year . I've got to conquer this one. Date of review: April 2, 2007
