In short: Listen to the marshalls!
In full: Had a good run, water stations well spaced - and you know were they are on each lap.

Joining Instructions could have been clearer: about the "no need" to sign in - and the fact that bands would be handed out on route - a change to last year.

Complaint to other runners:
Despite the clear instructions of marshalls and race ref - I still had please running 4 a-breast - and at least one muppet thought the "no peeing in the locals garden" rule didn't apply to him.

Finish was better placed compared to last year - goody bag was a little bare compared to last year too.

In short: A good start to 2012. The organisation was OK. The marshalls, spectators and other runners were very supportive. I found the 3rd and final lap hard work, but that was me not training enough. I'll be back next year.

In full: The race needs chip timing! The band system was rubbish and did not work on the 1st lap! Fairly badly organised but a good scenic course.

In short: very scenic views on the loops, lovely runners and marshalls, friendly event and a good day
In full: this was my first event with BTL,had read previous reviews that didnt make it sound too well organised but i thought overall it was all very good. parking was easy, sportscentre easy to find. the marshalls all round were helpful and friendly, local support nice too. found runners of all levels friendly and encouraging towards each other, medal was nice design. water stations were frequent and not too close together making good points to aim for between mile markers. weather was a bonus and overall for my first marathon i couldnt have asked for a better day!

In full: Second time doing this for me. Last time in 2010. I thoroughly enjoyed it mostly due to knowing what to expect out on those 3 laps ! Friendly race and pockets of decent support which was great. New finish also a big improvement so thanks for that and also a lovely bit of bling. Would recommend this as a great start to the year.

In short: Decent race
In full: My 13th marathon and all in all a decent race.

I didn't think the pre-race stuff was that well organised. Virtually no information on the website regarding this race, and had to e-mail the organiser to ask about my race number, course details etc... The pre race lecture from the organisers was a bit over the top in my opinion...

Onto the race well a lot of us didn't hear the call for the race about to start so was taken by surprise when the hooter went... The first part of the race was pretty boring before we headed out to Elmore and Longney to do three laps. This part was quite scenic and had some tough hills in.

Came in 13 minutes outside my pb - with more training over christmas could have gone close to setting a new pb but a sub 4 hour marathon was pleasing.

Plenty of marshals around the course - many very supportive. Drink stations well manned and well stocked. Decent medal. Would recommend but I do feel there are better marathons out there by a considerable distance.

In short: From low beginnings to one of the best marathons in the uk
In full: My 3rd running in this event, a well organised marathon with good and friendly Marshals. still needs some extra toilets at Race HQ, understand the need for start finish change which assists everyone. Well done to all, see you next year

In short: smooth organisation, good day out
In full: How glad I am to have signed up for this despite the bad reviews from previous years! Nice scenery, hills that were not too bad, a lot of different things to smell on the way, friendly and supportive marshals and what I liked most: a warm welcome by the 'crowd' in the finish - exactly what is required for a good day out. Cannot confirm the shortage of toilets: I arrived just before the briefing and stood in the queue for no longer than 5 minutes. Might well do it again next year as a warm up for one of the fast course spring marathons

In short: good start to the year
In full: Local race for me and I only decided to do this on the morning of the event, strange having the 50k runners starting after the marathon, but hey they still passed me. Overall I enjoyed the event but they ran out of goody bags at the end, but can’t complain as I was a late entry.
