In short: Beautiful scenery but some extended hill climbs can make it a sore one. Date of review: January 14, 2013

In short: Not as tough as I thought and with very good hospitality In full: True there are the hills but what goes up...!
What helped on the rural, undulating course was that there pretty much support at least every half mile throughout.
What sold it for me was the laid back but efficient and friendly organisation. You can sign up on the day, there are good showers and changing facilities and a free swim if you want. The free buffet is a great touch and veryuch appreciated.
No medal but engraved shot glass with Talisker miniature. Only way to improve would be to heve chip timing as it meant a bit of jostling at the start. Date of review: June 11, 2012

In short: challenging, but you have to do it to understand its individual beauty In full: A relatively small race with mostly club runners, but still immensely friendly. There are hills of course, but mostly gradual climbs and some do go on for a while, but the feeling at the highest point when the marshall says "it's all downhill from here" - then you turn the corner and see Portree in the distance, far below, aand everything is ok again! Loved it and so pleased with my time at 1:32. Date of review: June 17, 2011

In short: Excellent event! In full: Fantastic scenery, well marshalled, lots of support and plenty of water stations. Free swim/sauna and soup/sandwiches afterwards was much appreciated. Organisation of the whole event was fantastic. The only downside of this race was the hills!! Date of review: June 16, 2011

In short: A fabulous scenic run which starts with the sound of bagpipes at the local sport centre. Very hilly, but managable and well worth it. Everyone running were so friendly and helpful. Well worth the 1000 mile drive to get there, what a gorgeous place. Date of review: June 15, 2011

In short: a special location and a well organised race with an exceptional atmosphere In full: Organisation like clock-work. bagpipes at the start line, mind-blowing scenery, uncrowded field, plenty of water stations , crofter support along remote route and fantastic community atmosphere, plenty of hills to get your teeth into ! The race is well worth the trip to Skye and the stay in Skye is special in itself. Date of review: June 14, 2011

In short: Hard course. Good community event. Post race spread excellent. In full: Quirky distance but starting and finishing in central Portree is great for the community event. Good mix of club, local and holiday runners. No getting away from fact it's an undulating/hilly course and there's quite a lot of traffic on the main road during the second half. First three miles more up than down, next three more down than up, short sharp hill at 7th mile and then a long uphill incline to 11 miles. Last bit downhill - thank the lord! Goodie bag very good and post race food/drink provided by the local running club was wonderful. One minor grumble that the event t-shirt was printed with an A4 transfer which won't last one wash.
