In short: Great PB potential In full: The start wasn’t too busy and was nice and chilled out. There were a couple of hills, but overall the course was flat. I achieved a new PB for a 10K, will definitely be back next year to beat my time. The organisation was superb.
In short: Good race for those that like flat courses In full: Always nice to return to my hometown and run past Valley Parade. The course isn't the most scenic in the world, but the start and finish in Centenary square is quite uplifting. Very nice technical T shirt on offer. Don't know how they will go on once work starts on the hole in the ground though. Will be back next year. Date of review: April 29, 2013
In short: Very good race. In full: Organisation was perfect as usual. Better T-shirt (technical) this time. Will do this one again definitely. A good one for runners to get into the sport. Well done everyone. Miles better than the other 10K in Bradford City Centre. Date of review: April 28, 2013
In short: Really good all round In full: Really enjoyed this one - all the logistics worked well, fast course, great start/finish area. Results turned up in my inbox very soon after the end of the race. Really good overall. Date of review: April 28, 2013
In short: Rather underwhelming In full: I think they try to make this race a bigger event than what it actually is. Good motivational atmosphere at the start, but from then on, all a bit flat apart from the brill band half way round. Not as flat as it's made out to be, but the steepest climb is soon over with while you are still fresh. Not the cheapest 10k but goes to a good cause so no worries. Guess I'll be back, when the sun came out it lifted the spirit, but 9am in the fog was not a good scene for me. Date of review: March 28, 2012
In short: My home race so I will run it again In full: Like many races Bradford 10k suffered from being a 9am start. People just don't turn up in numbers to support. I know loads of people who siad if it was later they would have come to watch. Organisation was good and the marshalls were fantastic. I ran a PB so the flat course is a real benefit if you want to go fast. Date of review: March 26, 2012
In short: About the flattest race you will find in Bradford; made for beginners and PB hunters. In full: It was a cold and misty morning in the lead up to the 9am start of the run. Many competitors, and possibly some spectators, were more than keen to join in with the group warm-up.
It was a surprise that we were under way at a couple of minutes before nine, certainly by my phone's time, and there was no great ceremony - not even an air horn.
The race began with a few twists and turns through the city centre before heading up into Little Germany where we met the first of the two very short and not too steep hills. This is about the flattest run you will find in the Bradford area - the half-marathon is one of the hardest in the country and there's even some light hill work at the ParkRun!
After Little Germany we headed out to join Canal Road, which would make up around 7km of the course. Canal Road is pretty flat, certainly the vague descent on the way out and the opposite on the way back go unnoticed. The long slog out and back was a little repetitive but was made a bit more pleasant by a carnival-style drum band and a good number of spectators and marshals.
The final km stretch brought us back in to the city centre to the finish at Centenary Square, where the council have invested some serious money in improving the aesthetics of the area. There was a good crowd at the finish line and that really helped for the final sprint to the finish.
On finishing we were given bottles of water and a small Twix before collecting our rather nice Epilepsy Action: Bradford 10k t-shirts. The sun was just starting to break through the cloud and mist and a pleasant Sunday was in the offing. Within a couple of minutes of crossing the finish line, I received a text message with my gun and chip times.
Overall, this race was well worth the slightly higher than average price and was seamlessly run from start to finish. Worth the effort. Date of review: March 26, 2012
