In short: Fantastic Fun - But brook way too long In full: Despite having a gastro bug before the race which stopped me running all the way, I really enjoyed my first off road run. I enjoyed it all apart from the brook which felt way too long and was so cold it was painful.
Being at the back of the pack I agree that it was not well signposted although marshalls were very good when you came across one. Surprised at the distance of the start from the car park, got caught in traffic due to the horrid weather and wasn't expecting the long walk to the start line so I missed the official start.
Still REALLY good fun and would recommend it to other mad people. Date of review: December 24, 2008
In short: Sign me up for next year ! In full: Great fun. Mud, ditches, more mud, hay bales, even more mud, stinky deep pond, ice cold stream and mad, sheep. What more could you ask for ? The water's lovely come on in !!! Date of review: November 26, 2008
In short: Great race to do with a group, you need to comeradery (sp!) to get through the pond! In full: Great race, very different. A couple of hardcore muddy fields where your trainers pick up most of it, freezing stagnent pond and some slippery ridges keep you on your toes! Personally didn't have an issue with the route as always had someone in front, but can see the issues and agree it wasn't very clear. Not bothered about markers but one water station would have been appreciated. Great race, would definitely d again for the entertainment! Date of review: November 26, 2008
In short: cold, wet, still laughing about the pond In full: first time out and my first race of any kind for 20 years. I loved it. Ra with wife and friends and smiled all the way round Great fun. Enjoyed the heatng before the event and the sun came out by the end. Unlike the others I didn't seem to have a problem with the course. Back again next year Date of review: November 24, 2008
In short: hard, cold, but quite fun In full: Running on the very soft wet ground was hard work. A smelly pond and a very cold brook - not as bad as I had thought. What took it out of me was the running on fields! Agree with comments about poor marshalling. Would also have liked a route map (no mile markers so I had no idea how far we had gone and if I'd known the route in advance I would have had a better sense of it), and a hot drink at the finish! And some results! I know I was very slow, but have no idea of my time. Date of review: November 24, 2008
In short: A challenge, in more way than one!! In full: This is the first time I've participated in Farmyard Frolics and it was pretty much what I expected - long hard running over farmers field, a big pond to wade through, and a few other obstacles to conquer on the way. However, the biggest challenge was knowing where to go! The route definately required better marshalling or the route to better marked out. There were too many occasions where you didn't really know which way to go, unless you could glimpse the runner in front of you. Hopefully this will be rectified for next years event. I will return for more frolics at the farmyard!! Date of review: November 24, 2008
In short: well i had a frolicking good time In full: the race was fantastic and a better marshalled/signed route would have made it up there with the best. one that i would never forget - as it was my first non road run and could not feel anything below my waist until half hour after the race. thanks Date of review: November 24, 2008
