In short: A small but fun event, great scenery but just too little flat terrain In full: First time for this race today and despite a very cold morning I enjoyed it.
The scenery was excellent, the marshalling very good, and it was very friendly overall.
Negatives? Well it's not their fault but I'd say at least 60% of the course is either running uphill or downhill, so no chance of a PB. Also, as you're at the lowest point at the 5k mark, you know it's going to get tougher.
I'd like to see 'proper' race numbers too. I'm sure I'm not the only person who collects these.
Shall do it again though, and well done to the organisers. Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: A challenging one, don't under estimate the hill that starts at the beginning of 6k In full: My first time here, very enjoyable, well organised race that has a very local community feel which was great being part of. Def do again, just won't have so many ideas of getting anywhere near my pb. If you like long down-hills followed by long up-hills then this could be your event. Date of review: March 2, 2009
In short: A nice friendly well organised race In full: First time doing this one today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice scenery and friendly. The course is quite tough, definately not a pb course. First 5 k is actually quite fast so you get a false impression of your likely finish time. After 5k there are quite a lot of hills, one quite long and steep (say 200 metres of 1 in 6) and another long one of maybe 800m about 1 in 12. I took over 2 mins longer to do the second half. There was a good generous array of trohpies plus refreshments at the end (bacon baps, coffees etc). Only criticism would be them not printing out any results on the day. I waited an hour for the prize giving to find out I'd missed out by one place! Apart from that can't really think of anything negative. Well done to the organisers. Date of review: March 1, 2009
