In short: Great XC course, great amenities, BUT no water stations AT ALL!
In full: With a marquee, electricity, canteen and proper toilets, this event is about as lush as you can get. With relatively few entrants there is little jostling for place at teh front, however, if it's rained, the course is a severe cross country mud bath. Unless you run in spikes or proper trail running boots, your time and pace will be severely handicapped. Not an ideal run for beginner or unequippped runners and getting to the end to find they've ran out of medal would put me off doing it again as what happened to many back markers. Not an ideal first XC run, especially as the water staions at 5km and 10km didn't exist. Rather silly really!

In short: First race - really enjoyed it
In full: Well organised and some very friendly runners who were very helpful.

The main race got off on time without a hitch.

Course was pretty hilly and a mixture of woodland and farmers fields.

Hard work, but really felt worth the effort at the end

In short: Tough but beautiful woodland and grass romp. Why not make a weekend of it?
In full: Great challenging race for those who like their courses undulating. The course weaves its way up through bluebell strewn woodland before descending and climbing again through fields. The course then enters woodlands with tight switchbacks through the trees to make you dizzy and includes a small water jump! You then descend for the final 2k with only one more short sharp climb before a great fast downhill finish.
The runners with dogs starting 5 minutes after the canine deficient runners is great fun, wow are they fast!
Free camping all weekend, catering and toilets is very welcome. For those who like to mix it up there is also the 6 hour mountain bike event on the Sunday.
This is the course that will be used for the 24 hour race later in the year.
Such fun!

In short: Small race, big fun!
In full: First time I have run this, did it with my step son as his first ever 10K(he beat me bad :-( ) Had several nice chats with folk before the race which is a bit odd as I am so unsociable. Was really friendly, fun to run and outstanding course. Was the hardest 10K I have run but the funest.
