In short: Hilly but very well organised In full: Great 10k in terms of the amount of people running and the support in the town is brilliant for a 10k. Great atmosphere . Very hilly for the first 4k, not great pb potential , running across countryside tracks and the main town.
Would I do it again? Yes I would. Date of review: May 27, 2013

In short: Fantastic race, loads of support, but could you sign the race HQ please! In full: I know Newbury pretty well, but as a late entrant I had to pick up my number and three separate marshals near the start/finish told me they were sorry, they hadn't a clue where I should go. The race HQ was pretty close, but there were no signs and it was tucked out of the way behind some shops. A few simple signposts would have been really helpful. Fortunately I had plenty of time.
I was planning on running in Wallingford but their online entry had already closed, so I signed up for Newbury just because I knew that if I'd already paid there was a good chance I'd actually turn up. So glad I did; on balance Newbury is better - fewer bottlenecks, better for spectators since it's a figure of eight so they can see you easily three times, and Newbury is fully open for business on a Sunday whereas Wallingford is basically shut. Also there were loads of marshals and locals lining the route cheering us on. I'll definitely do this one again next year. Date of review: May 27, 2013

In short: Well supported multi-terrain race with town centre start/finish In full: This was a well-organised race as usual, and as it starts and finishes in the town centre, and also passes through at about 7.5k, there's lots of support. The terrain is varied under foot, and the fact that the first 3k is uphill and the course seems a little long makes a PB unlikely. Nevertheless, the race was thoroughly enjoyable, no long wait for the prize giving, and results on the web before most of the rest of today's races. I'll definitely do it again. Thanks to all the marshals. Date of review: May 26, 2013

In short: Very good event indeed In full: Start is 10 mins from the railway station. Race HQ nearby, with loos and baggage stow. Great town-centre start and finish plus a bit in the middle too, with plenty of support and cheering. Good and varied course with a bit of rough, a bit of smooth and some mild ups and downs. Smooth organization and friendly marshals. And results up by mid-afternoon. Excellent race, really nothing to fault. Must do this one again. Date of review: May 26, 2013

In short: Excellent race, well organised, great support! In full: Very warm day in Newbury and the course has very changeable conditions underfoot. Found the first 5k challenging on spongey grass and loose gravel. The support from the locals was brilliant though and the Market Square had a brilliant atmosphere for the 10k as well as the two youngster races beforehand. Will definitely be back! Only suggestion would be to start near the front if you want a good time as a bit of bottlenecking which i just managed to get caught up in, but the first 500m was very crowded. In short: I really enjoyed it! In full: Great organisation and easy parking made this a lovely morning out.A fairly challenging course with a mixture of terrain.Supportive marshalls and a lovely finish in the town made for plenty of support.Course long though,my Garmin measured 6.37 miles so not ideal if you're after a pb!! In short: Lovely friendly race, well organised, interesting course, easy to park with a Town centre start and finish In full: This was my second Bayer 10km and the organisation, marshaling etc were just as good as last year. I really like the atmosphere in the Town Square where the start/finish is located. Running the last 300m through the shopping area into a waiting crowd in the square gives you a "Big Event" sort of feeling. The event has a nice interesting course although runners should be aware that some of the trails are pretty rough and uneven and could catch out the unwary. It`s very important to start in your correct time zone on this one as there are a lot of areas that are very difficult to pass slower runners. Will definitely be coming back for this one.
