In short: Always love it! In full: Five years running for me now. Not sure which was worse - last year's heat or my waterlogged specs this time! As ever, a superbly enjoyable race. Shame my new Asics' laces decided to come undone in the wet weather losing me valuable seconds. Date of review: June 13, 2011
In short: dnf? In full: Torrential rain/mud/wind/freezing cold, what more could you ask for from a M/T race in the UK in June????? Really well run event - sorry I couldn't do it justice due to a pulled hamstring a mile from the end (hobbled in rather than having my first dnf). Thanks to all the marshalls for taking care of me and standing in torrential rain for all of us. Next year maybe do better?
In short: A really wonderful occasion. I love this race. In full: Four years in a row for me now. Such a well-organised, enjoyable race with a lovelt vibe. Gutted I was 2 seconds short of last year, though! Date of review: June 15, 2010
In short: Tough off road course but in great scenery In full: Third time I've done this race and the second in a row. First the good bits, excellent organisation made for a very good race. Held in a country park so excellent scenery. Plenty to look at on the way round. Wonderful wooded sections particularly downhill alongside the springs/streams. Tough hills but do-able. The bad/poor bits-at times in the wooded sections I felt a few more marshals would of been nice. Advertised as a 'memento' to all finishers. It was a cotton T-shirt. If you are going to give a T-shirt say so! A memento sounds more like a medal/trinket. But despite these two points I'll be back and hopefully not the day after an England football game (bit of a sore head!). Date of review: June 14, 2010
In short: keeps getting better In full: This was my second year of doing this two lap, multi-terrain course that has something for everyone. Open grassland, woods, few shortish but energy zapping climbs, bit of roadwork and some nice scenery. Weather was cooler this year, just but the turnout was up and two other shorter fun runs were nice for those not wishing to tackle the 9K, well just over 9K. Perfect race for the seasoned runner to be challenging, but not so daunting to the new runner being slightly shorter than the majority of runs. Date of review: June 14, 2010
In short: 2 laps of mildly challenging mutli terrain fun. In full: A nice run, great legth and thanks to an irregular distance a great race for PB. Quite hot and there are some hilly bits, but nothing like the hills seen in the Run in the Wild 10k. A good challenging for the beginner or 10k runner. Date of review: June 13, 2010
In short: Superb once again In full: My third year running in this race and I love it. The organisation is fantastic as is the atmosphere. Plus, the photos on the YTRRC site are excellent even if I look like I am about to peg out! Yet again it was scorching hot but that just aded to the challenge. A lovely setting with a bit of everything: shde, open, paths, fields, a tiny section of road. Lovely!! Date of review: June 16, 2009
In short: Nice surfaced multi-terrain course In full: This has to be the first multi-terrain course that is mostly on hard(ish) surfaces, yes, the paths around the park are well surfaced, but a nice sprinkling of woodland and fields makes a nice mix. The weather was a bit warm, but a well turned out mix of runners and supporters, probably the most supporters I've seen at a race of this size, so a nice touch. If it's wet, then the course could be slippery in places, and more off-road footwear would be prefered, but road shows were fine on the course. Date of review: June 14, 2009
