In short: An excellent 10k trail run In full: just over 10k of undulating trial run fun. struggling up sandy/stoney hills, winding thro pine trees and avoiding roots, ducking overhanging foliage - all on a hot summers night - what's not to enjoy. great fun. extremely well marshalled and organised (you can always trust a 2:09 event). great medal and good goodie bag. will be back again next year Date of review: July 1, 2010
In short: A tough midweek challenge In full: Second time out on the event, so I was forewarned. Challenging but not suicidal terrain, missed a lot of the beautiful scenery constantly scanning the narrow paths for stray roots, but lots of fun. Good atmosphere amongst the runners, and beautifully planned and executed by 209, as usual. Nice touches like the onsite masseur and real coffee vendor made the evening for me. In short: Challenging but enjoyable In full: Lovely scenery but need to concentrate on your footing much of the time. Some challenging but manageable ascents and descents and a few narrow and winding sections. I really like the atmosphere around the start/finish of this event and congratulations to all involved in managing the event on the evening. A decent medal. I felt that all abilities are equally welcome at this event and at the same time it is challenging for experienced runners. I expect to be back for more! Date of review: June 30, 2010
In short: Tough but enjoyable course In full: Made harder by the heat..Enjoyable run through the trails, few killer hills here and there (often with sandy underfoot) but overall a good introduction to off-road running! Friendly and helpful marshalls and a value-for-money goody bag at the end. Good mix of runners as well, didn't feel overly-elitist, always a bonus when you're not that used to racing. In short: Great introduction to trail running In full: My first ever trail race and I did feel slightly nervous when I turned up and saw lots of extremely fit looking runners! But beginners were made very welcome and there were enough people at the back for me not to feel lonely! The organisation was great and the marshalls were friendly and supportive. It has given me a really positive experience of trail running and I am keen to do more. I found it much more challenging than running on the road but much more rewarding. Will be back next year! In short: More challenging course than you'd think In full: Well organised, good to see chip timing spreading it's fingers further across the racing spectrum, good mix of runners including a few fast ones - Pretty tough course, hard first few km then it levelled out a little.
Nice medal and bag for the money, well done 2.09 events. Date of review: June 30, 2010
