In short: New to trail running, really enjoyed it. Welcoming and freindly, not clicky and clubby

In short: Good first race if you've done a bit of hill-work
In full: This was my first race and I'm familiar with the forest. Previous reviews led me to expect the steepest hill but in fact it was a more gentle zig-zag up. Narrow sections were clearly frustrating if you didn't intend walking. Great support from marshalls, especially in last km. Will be back next time.

In short: Aching like mad today!!
In full: Good Race that is very well organised. No potential for PB as there are one track sections were you get stuck behind slower runners and cant pass.

Think next year the organisers should consider making the start a bit further away from the hill so runners can get in postion before getting stuck behind people content on a slower pace. Also banning Ipods would be mint and i've got a few bruises to back that up.

Overall though really good run and really good route. I am going to start using it regularly in my training. Well done to the organisers!

In short: I am now thinking a little more hill training would have put me in a better position.
In full: The setting was beautiful, I knew I was not going to do a PB, I knew in fact the second I realised I would be running up hills it would be much harder than I expected. But as a novice to this running lark, I thought I would give it ago.

So this was my first off road event and all my training (ok not as much as planned, some good sport on TV of late) was on flat roads, that was the first mistake.

Second mistake was looking around for other over weight people who I might keep pace with. As it was demoralising to see them go past me! Note to orgainisers, the race timings for winner and over 40 and so on should have a new category - the over 14 stone category, it makes a big difference and should be rewarded - maybe a big mac should be the reward!

However, I paced myself (to my own ability) fairly well and managed to over take the odd person with 2/3 km to go.

In the end I felt a great sense of acheivement and want to beat my time next year. Cant wait for the next event whatever it might be!

Thanks organisers!

In short: An enjoyable race in a lovely setting
In full: This was my first race and I was nervous to say the least! I had read enough reviews here and spoken to enough people to be terrified of the hills - particularly the infamous first 3k! However, the hills didn't cause me any problems and I even managed a sprint finish! This race now has me hooked and I am looking to enter my next one, maybe something flatter to see if I can crank up the pace. Thanks to the organizers for making my first race such an enjoyable experience will defo do this next year - especially if there's a T-shirt included in the goody bag????? ; )

In short: Enjoyable trail race in the middle of Delamere Forest
In full: Great organisation. Friendly atmosphere. Tough but interesting course. Two water stations (bottles). Well sign posted. Great medal and nice goody bag. I can't understand why this race isn't sold out every year!
