In full: Good well organised race like all your events, but come on rob more toilets please, q'd up from 0925 for a wee and still started the race 5 mins late, 4 portaloos just isn't enough!! Date of review: October 7, 2013
In full: ran the 8 mile race, sinage a little vague. but still a great run, dont let the on the day entry fee put you off,its worth it. well organised & a good mix of runners, will run again in 2014. Date of review: October 6, 2013
In full: Once again, excellent event in all aspects, friendly, well organised and pleasant, scenic route along the seafront.Got myself a 10k PB this year so along with that, the glorious weather and the generous goody bag & medal cant really find fault anywhere...looking forward to next year (when I plan to have a crack at the 8 mile race)! In short: Very pleasant seaside race, suitable for both club runners and fun/charity runners alike. Nice friendly organisation at start/finish area and decent goody bag. In full: This event is local to me so very easy to get to. Parking is free and easy to find. Toilet facilities at the start were not great, (I do know how much it costs to hire portaloos from being involved with cycle race organisation myself, so I fully appreciate why having more would eat into the event funds meaning less money for the RNLI, so perfectly understandable) Course mostly along wide promenade so easy to follow but sometimes having to zig zag round pedestrians could be a little frustrating. I did the eight mile event and did find some of the signage a little small and difficult to see until the last moment, (Not a problem for me as I`m local and had a pretty good idea where we would be going). Very impressed at finish where as I crossed the line somebody asked me my age category then told me I had a third place in category award which was given to me there and then, nice touch and very slick that! Overall a lovely event which I`ll do again. Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Excellence Once More In full: Second year I have done this, it is very well organised and marshalled. Run along the same route as the 10k but the direction for the extra couple of miles is spot on. Friendly organisers, a pleasure to run. Will definitely be back next year. In short: Beautiful day and speedy course In full: The only thing that let this otherwise great race down was the incorrect marshalling at the turning point for the Pieces of Eight (where 10k runners turned off and PoE runners continued). If there were signs they were obscured and the marshalls a bit vague.
I ended up running just 10k, as did one or two others apparently, and one 10k runner continued with the 8-mile lot.
Disappointing in terms of what I set out to do but still had PB potential so not a race wasted.
I did enjoy the 10k immensley and the distance markers were spot on.
Next year I'd suggest having a marshall directing runners, rather than the signs which are easily obscured when running in a crowd. Date of review: October 7, 2012
In short: wonderful weather, excellent race In full: as the numbers taking part weren't that high, there was little bunching at the start, so got away pretty smoothly. The turn about half way was well worked out, none of that running around a bench or bollard, so didn't have to slow down.Very impressed!! In short: Im Very happy with the whole event, well worth the effort and for a great cause. In full: Very happy with the whole event and how it all went. you cant please all the people all the time, but as long as you all got something out of the day. Thank you for supporting the RNLI. ps. anybody know where the changing rooms are for the great south run???? Date of review: October 6, 2009
