In short: Friendly wonderful challenging trail run through gorgeous countryside In full: So refreshing doing a proper small club race rather than a large field race. Atmosphere very friendly, no worries about parking or miles walk to the start, just turn up and go. Very well thought out trail run. It is definitely not easy - two challenging hills and rooty trails but brilliant not to be plodding on tarmac. A hidden gem. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Certainly not a PB but lovely scenery makes up for the hard hills! In full: 1st time ever doing this run, it was a lot harder than i thought, countless hills but really nice scenery and such good value for money, it would seem like a shame to miss out!
The only draw back is there weren't enough water stations (only 2) and I'm sure the mile markers were out by 1/4 mile but the full route was 10m. Definitely needed the arrows on the route as there were parts of the route, i had no one behind or in front of me so I was hoping that i was on the right route! Date of review: September 21, 2014
In short: Fun, friendly and sunny too! In full: A relatively small, very friendly race round the beautiful Cotswold countryside. A couple of steep hills and some cross-country parts, so limited pb potential - but not every race should be a pb?
Superbly organized and all our thanks to the fantastic Marshall's, especially the children, for cheering us on.
Highly recommended, on a sunny Sunday morning. Date of review: October 9, 2013
In short: Pan flat and fast 3.5 mile version too! In full: Good mix of roads, grass, paths with gates and two ploughed fields - out beside the River Thames and back XC. Very well run event, chip timed, well signed, real coffee, loos and good prizes thanks to the sponsors. Suitable for all abilities including children and families. A fast training run if, like me, you didn't fancy the more challenging hilly 10 miler! Well done Mike and the team for all the hard work behind the scenes. Date of review: September 23, 2013
In short: We were very lucky with the weather as some sections of the course are quite exposed. A very well organised event with more than enough arrow markers, marshals and water stations. Well done to all concerned. Incidentally, this race is chip timed... Date of review: September 17, 2013
In short: Could have done without the ploughed fields at the start In full: Friendly atmosphere, well-organised and well-signed, lots and lots of marshals, many of them small and very pleasant even when standing on windy drizzly open hilltops. The first three+ miles through the fields on level ground were harder than the hilly bits, particularly running across furrows for two fields, really could have done with trail shoes. The one proper hill coming straight after that seemed much harder than it should have. Thereafter, nice undulating course around grassy fields and over the tops of the hills, great fun bouncing down the several long steep slopes, meant I had enough reserve for a sprint finish! Nice family atmosphere, with whole families turning up, cheering on friends and taking part in their age group's races. Good fun and good value. Date of review: September 16, 2013
In short: Great varied course, beautiful scenery and well organised. In full: Lots of different types of terrain; roads, fields; hills and paths make this a challenging course. Well organised and a good atmosphere. Will be back next year. Date of review: September 16, 2013
