In short: Very nice for a PB, non-crowded event, can run at target pace from start. In full: Take your drink with you or you'll dehydrate. No food at stations, so pack up some bars and gels. Only 120 participants this year, good for speed but lonely in the last 10k. We were several runners to question the distance at the end; our GPSs showing about 2 km less than expected... In short: Short with lack of mile markers and lack of water In full: Great scenery and a fast race potential changed from last year and slightly better , but no marshals at cross over points , I ran with my garmin and told others distances as they or I passed each other . A lack of water stations on a hotter day could be dangerous and still caused dehydration problems . But remember this is for charity and they could do worse that asking a running club to help organise the route ,which should make it more runner friendly .
In short: They need to get the distance measured properly and look after runners that pulll out of race. In full: Not impressed with with marshalls and being dropped of 2.5 miles from finished after pulling out of this race. I phoned Parents fo Children the next day. They were meant to ring me back that afternoon and I am still awaiting that phone call. Date of review: October 11, 2008
In short: Good run that could be better with few problems ironed out In full: I enjoyed this, and thanks to everyone for making it happen, but agree that the refreshments later on weren't well organised and it did feel a mile or so short. Date of review: October 6, 2008
In short: Abysmal organisation that the organisers are now in denial of. In full: Advertised water stops non-existent, course was short last year, short this year and will be short next year so pb guaranteed. If you like to cheat yourself. Date of review: October 6, 2008
In short: Nice race, nice atmosphere, I will do it again. In full: My Garmin showed about 25 miles but I was running out of batteries so thought I was wrong. Marshalls were at key points and it was easy to follow the route. Lots of wind. I will do it again and try to bring some friends - I'm sure next year it will be 26.2 miles! In short: Criminal - over a mile short. Would be nice 25mile trail race In full: Inexcusable to call this a marathon and for it to be less than 25 miles. Also no way they could have coped with the 700 race limit (about 150 was ideal). That said, fast and flat course with some good scenery early on, and not overly competitive - but they must get the distance independently verified for next year if they want anyone to come back. Tow path was good running surface and plenty of overtaking room. Date of review: October 6, 2008
In short: Organisation , yeah right In full: This race had major issues.Firstly it was over a mile short which is unacceptable most peoples garmins did not even make it to 25M. People even measured their 10K at 5.5M. 3 out of 8 water stations and none in the last ten miles is dangerous and no adequat way of dealing with runners who drop out. That said I had a good run but I don't think this race will make it through the whole series at the rate they are going. Date of review: October 5, 2008
