In short: Good friendly run with a killer hill at the end!
In full: Well organised run, actually ran more than 10k but its hard to mark out on beach as you move to avoid water, rocks, etc. Nice Filey 10k woolly hat at the end, nice change. Great scenery even with the rain!

In short: A change is as good as a rest. Good race, bit different and a great excuse for fish & chips after

In short: Weather was appalling on the beach
In full: Good run - weather was appaling and wind was harsh from the 5 to 8km marks.
The final loop (after the hill) was a bit of a killer but good race overall.

In short: Windy!!
In full: The Scenery along the beach was fantastic as was the first 5k.
Between 5k and 9k however the headwind was obscene, so bad in fact that my km pace was slowed by up a minute -I'm not sure if the headwind would have been less if the race was hosted during mid-summer?.

The 7km marker was almost 750m too late and there was no goody bag or T-Shirt at the end - just a plastic bottle.

In short: tough race but well worth it.
In full: I don't normally like out and back races but the scenery made this one far from dull. The sand and the wind made from the 5 to the 7km markers feel like the longest 2k of my life! The hills at the start and finish and lap round the top also made it a nicely varied course. Very friendly runners and organisers.

In short: Great race, but terrible weather in 2009 - nearly drowned!

In full: Course itself was good, would've been a lovely run, not too challenging (even for a beginner like me), but weather conditions made it very hard going. My thanks must go to the lifeguards and marshals for seeing me round safely - cheers folks, not much fun for you in all that rain and wind!

In short: A great race but running into a gale and crossing rivers for 5k was challenging, good atmosphere especially at the finish.

In short: Enjoyable race, even if the conditions left a little to be desired
In full: Probably the worst conditions I've ever had in a 10k on the way out. Huge amounts of rain, not to be outdone by the huge amounts of wind. Organisation seemed decent enough, and there was some good support in places given the biblical weather. Well done to the marshalls - I'd rather run it than stand in it!

In short: I would do this race again but NOT if it was blowing a gale.
In full: This would be a perfect race in good conditions but it was hard work in the wind and rain and way too wet under foot for me.
