In short: Enjoyable race in nice scenery - 3 laps of a mainly flat course through a lovely park setting. Good pb potential for all but the fastest runners.
In full: Nice course, 3 laps in the park, no hills just a few small inclines. Good organisation apart from the start which wouldn't have taken much to sort out with a bit more forethought although it meant the start was delayed by nearly 10 mins which is a bummer if you've warmed up ready for an on time start. Friendly atmosphere and a great place to bring your friends and family as they will have plenty to occupy them whilst you indulge in some racing. First km was very congested and will cost you a good bit of time whilst the race thins out, at least 15-20secs if you're not at the front. Chip timing wouldn't help this aspect unfortunately. If you are at the front you are probably fast enough to be lapping slower runners which might cause you problems. As such, despite the fast course these things might scupper a PB effort for many runners although the course does have good potential for this with a bit of planning. There is only one tight corner at the entrance to the park, the others aren't too bad and shouldn't slow you too much unless again you are running in the thirties I'd imagine. Overall a good race and one I will definitely do again but I urge the organisers to put more thought into the start, a little bit of thought will make a big difference to all the participants and therefore to the race reviews.

In short: Start needs sorting out!
In full: This was the second time I've done this race, so I knew where everything was -- otherwise finding the car park and knowing where the start was would have been interesting!

Other people have commented on the start, but really just needed a couple more marshalls and signs to ensure it was under control.

A good course, 3 times round is a bit draining - especially getting lapped by fast runners (really I am never going to run that fast, am in complete awe of these people). A good few twists and turns to make it interesting and water stop was well manned.

I quite like the towel idea, more useful than a medal for sure. Chip timing would be great - other races do it for the same price...

In short: A Race Needing a Little Fine Tuning
In full: An enjoyable race in a lovely location and the potential for a PB on a good day. Just a couple of points that would improve matters, A start line so that we assemble in the right place (we all lined-up where the clock was oops!), back-markers across the road (marshals just let them know we're coming) and while I don't race for momentos the towel isn't great as it isn't big enough to dry me (am I too fat?) and I avoid gyms to run in the great outdoors.

The location alone means I will be back next year so long as it doesn't clash with the county athletics champs again.

In short: Good Race in an Excellent Location
In full: For many reasons this is unlikely to be a stand out race, but it is a reasonably fast, reasonably well-organised and reasonably scenic event in a park that is excellent for families and spectators.

The sharp twists and turns and slight climbs make it difficult to get a PB here, though probably not impossible. The organisation is mixed with good marshalling offset by poor signage of the start and the car park. Facilities are OK at best.

However, the location, space and scenery are great for those coming to watch on a sunny day.

Southampton AC could probably stand to take notice of some of the feedback on the issues faced and value of this race - it's slightly concerning that the same problems occur year after year - but overall it's a good race that I at least will continue to support.

In short: OK - Hope for better next year
In full: 5th time I've done this one, so I must enjoy it. Start a little confusing and lost chance of a reasonable race time by being pushed back at start of race and losing position of choice. Bottleneck for first couple of hundred yards didn,t aid recovery. Have now collected a full drawer full of towels from this one and would appreciate something different next year. Will be back.

In short: Poor organisation at start
In full: This was the 2nd year I've run the SAC10K and the same issue as last year arose; namely the unclear start. The race was delayed by several minutes due to the confusion and the need to move the runners back to the other side of the start line. The finish was very clear. Shame that flags and direction arrows weren't used for the start. There was a sign but this was on the field and not really close enough to the start to highlight it. All a little disappointing given this is a regular issue with this race. One steward tried to rectify the situation which wasn't enough.

In terms of the course, it's pretty good. Mainly tarmac and a slight climb in the first km and then the same on the 2nd and 3rd lap. Marshals were on the whole encouraging. Good atmosphere at the finish.

The towels were a bit of a letdown as usual but it was good to get something. Having said that, that's all you get!

In short: Poorly organised start
In full: Very poor organisation at start, many runners didnt know which way direction the race was going. I paid on the day which meant it didnt get a commorative towel at the end, i doubt the towels cost more than a £1 so why not enough ordered? at end i was made to feel left out as i got nothing to show i finished. The course was ok but very little atmosphere and a little boring repeating the same course 3 times. I wont be running this again.

In short: Nice run- great location-muddled start
In full: Great location and lovely weather made it very scenic. The race start was a bit confusing with, seemingly, one guy trying to get the runners the right side of the start line and facing the right way. Another couple of people at this point would have helped. Small issue really though as on the whole good fun and plenty of space for spectators and family to view and play.

In short: A good race in a pleasant setting
In full: This race is held in the pleasant setting of Royal Victoria Country Park, a few miles east of southampton. It can be easily reached by train or bike from Southampton. It is quite nice to be running through the park, although 3 laps gets a bit samey. On the whole the organisation was good, but the start was delayed slightly due to confusion about where the start line was. A larger sign may have been more appropriate to prevent this. There was also a bit of a bottle-neck at the beginning due to the number of runners, that slowed the race down to begin with. Atmosphere was good though and the race was sufficiently marshalled with enthusiastic volunteers on the water point. The results were put up very quickly after the race ended. The towel was a nice memento, but a few more freebies would also have been welcome for added value for money. As people have said previously, chip timing would increase accuracy and be welcome here. All in all, a good race.

In short: Would benifit from Chip Timing, Race instructions not brilliant but passable, lack of marshalls for parking and exit, otherwise a very good 3 lap race
