In short: Friendly atmosphere and nice day out! In full: I found this race to be a really nice day out. Very casual start and really welcoming for those ethat wanted to start early for a longer time while still having the group start for those of us that wanted the race feel on the day. Finally had a nice day out which made it all the better and great luck that it was pretty solid underfoot. In saying this, however, on that one bit of bog the organisers said to be wary of? Lost my shoe. Great to see the sense of humour from the runner next to me laughing! The hill at mile 10 was nice and steady and so rewarding at the top with a lovely view over the downs. Very friendly atmosphere with everyone nattering away and one even offering me a lift to the train station (thanks again!). The availability of showers and the cooked breakfast just made it that much better. Date of review: May 11, 2013

In short: Scenic and tough course, great organisation and aid stations and a fantastic veggie breakfast at the end! In full: This was my first Steyning Stinger but definitely won't be my last. Pre-race organisation was fantastic and I loved the relaxed start whereby you could start before the mass start at 8.30am if you wanted.
The course was tough in places but the scenery more than made up for it, the aid stations seemed so frequent and were so well stocked and the volunteers were wonderful and so encouraging.
The icing on the cake on an already fantastic race, was free race photos and a free veggie breakfast at the end. A lot of the bigger races should take a leaf out of Steyning's book as this really was the perfect race in all respects. Date of review: March 22, 2013

In short: Excellent course, value and organisation In full: Fantastic scenery, well marked + marshalled, good crowd. Challenging hills. Don't miss out on the breakfast which is included in the entry cost - a great touch. Date of review: March 14, 2013

In short: Best event I have ever entered AAA** In full: This was my first Stinger, very impressed with the staff around the whole track. Markings very clear and water stops set out perfectly. I will be reccomending this race to all of my friends. I am now looking into all of the other events run by Steyning Athletics Club. Date of review: March 6, 2013

In short: Another great Stinger In full: As ever one of the year's highlights. Many many thanks to all involved in putting it on; you should be very proud of a job well done.
If it's possible can we go back to the traditional route for next year; in terms of the location of checkpoint 3, the route down to Cissbury and the finish. I'm getting old and set in my ways! Date of review: March 4, 2013

In full: Third year for me at this event and I love it. Last year was dire with all the mud etc but just the way things are in this country with our crazy weather. This year the mud was firmed up nice and hard, but that too could have it's problems if you took your eye off the path to check out the lovely views. Some of my pals got caught up in the miss-direction at the beginning but again, these things happen - it is a shame but it is not a run you would do to go chase any crazy PB and it is good to see the organisers are trying to make amends by looking to adjust finishing times by pace etc and offering free entry next year. I think that's more than some would do. Very good marshaling with lots of treats at the water stations...big thanks for that. Did not like the finish though, although understand the need for it. I have run that bit in reverse at the clubs yearly league run which had to be diverted a few years ago and had no real concerns about it but had forgotten that the field just goes on and on and the last little sting in the tail bit !! Not nice. Lovely brekkie and the young girls sorting out the orders were just so orginised and grown up about it all....so polite so big thanks to them....and all at Steyning AC. In short: A fantastic day out with breakfast thrown in In full: Very impressed by the organisation, particularly the mile markers in the middle of nowhere, likewise the marshals, chocolate biscuits and mars bars, the mug and the fabulous all-day breakfast. It was a hard run in a cold wind but it was dry. The ground was a bit hard on the three occasions when I tripped on a flint, but that's the South downs for you! Date of review: March 4, 2013

In short: Great value-for-money well-organised event. This was the 10th time I've run it and, despite superb conditions underfoot, it was as hard as ever. I didn't like the - hopefully temporary - new route over the last 2 miles. Date of review: March 4, 2013
