In short: Over priced In full: Very disappointing race for the entry fee. It's a flat course and with absolutely no wind, it has massive PB potential.
The details on the website talk about the following: 1 - pre & Post Sports Massage available to sooth those muscles. Absolutely no sign of these yesterday 2 - at the finish line you will receive a Red Bull to re-energise you after your event. Definitely not available. I had to find a cup of water at the finish by walking to the drinks station from the 1st lap of the 10k
I saw the majority of other competitors at the finish with goody bags so I enquired of a member of staff where I could collect mine. I was informed that I was given one at registration. I wasn't - registration consisted of getting my number and timing chip. So the chap found a goody bag for me - a leaflet and a Maxifuel water bottle.
There was alot of Maxifuel branding but no sign of any maxifuel staff or products to try (apart from the gels at the drink station at the start of the 1st lap of the 10k). I've done this race a couple of years ago and Maxifuel had loads of their drinks available to test and staff to chat to. There was also a t-shirt in the goody bag.
For the entry price, I left feeling a bit ripped off, especially when compared to another local 10k race that I've entered in May.
I did this race as it's easy for me to get and I wanted a timed 10k that was close by. However, I will think very carefully before entering it again. Date of review: February 24, 2013

In short: Flat, fast, but nothing special. In full: Very disappointing goody bag given the entry cost. Would have expected to get maxifuel products at a maxifuel race, not a bottle of red bull and nothing else (other runners had magazines and other bits but they ran out). Not easy to get to by public transport - 2 of the stations named in the notes don't seem to have trains on a Sunday. Flat and fast course, but not much atmosphere. Date of review: February 26, 2012

In short: It is what it is. In full: It is not very scenic, and it is laps of a rowing lake, but, if the conditions are right i.e no wind, then this is a definite PB course. As long as you go there aware of this, use this one to chase PB's, choose other events for scenery etc. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Very fast, flat course in pretty surroundings - made to look idyllic in glorious spring sunshine In full: Previous reviews suggest that this course was a bit dull, but in fact yesterday Dorney Lake and its surroundings looked beautiful with clear blues skies and sunshine. The race conditions were perfect for running a pb - which is what this race sells itself upon. 9am start meant it was sunny but not too hot. There was a delay to the start as we had to walk 2k to the start line, but I was in no hurry and I found this a good opportunity to warm up. (However perhaps a bit more forewarning would have been appreciated.) The organisers were very friendly and having the race on a Saturday means you still get an opportunity to do a long run on sunday. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Well organised race that lacks character In full: This year they had 4 loops around the rowing lake. The scenery is not bad, even with a castle in the background, although of course loops get repetitive. Completely flat, so PB potential. My main gripe is complete lack of atmosphere. No people around the course to cheer you up, marshals and water station guys are dour and don't even look at runners. I think this could be a difference between company-organised vs community-organised races; paid-up employees vs volunteers. Having said that, 2011 was a rather nice race - very sunny and eventually quite warm (after recording -3 deg overnight). Gels and drinks were aplenty; free pre-race massage, immediate printout of your chip/gun time and position. Not bad. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Great organisation - friendly and professional - beautiful day in wonderful surroundings In full: This was my first race at this event and I must say that I cannot relate any of the negative feedback about this race to my own experience. Very friendly atmosphere, great organisation & obvious that plenty of effort was invested in making this an event to enjoy. Coming from London, maybe I am easy to please, but I found the surroundings absolutely beautiful – not a car in site and plenty of lakes, geese & countryside. Race site difficult to find but that is how it is and who cares about the size a goodie bag? PB achieved on this first true spring day and it was a lovely occasion to be remembered. In short: Pretty dull but well organised. In full: A lot of money for not a lot really. I got a PB but it's dead flat, not going to count it though. I prefer town/city races and this ain't it. Date of review: March 19, 2011

In short: Fine if you like small races and would like a good race time. In full: Having run Dorney lake in summer i thought all would be same. My fault ! This race started at other end of lake, car park was not accessible until Duatholon competitors started to exit (we could however, wait along road side), registration didnot open until1 and 1/2 hours before race started (waited until chips from Duatholon were returned and despite being advertised in runners world as starting at 12pm, adverts on site stated 12.30. In all these points need addressing. Was race entry fee for series or just one race? If not then steep price. Date of review: February 28, 2011

In short: Boring course - they only hire out half the lake so you have to do lots of mind numbing loops. Not very good organisation - organisers said they'd send prizes on afterwards and we're still waiting 7 months later despite numerous emails. Date of review: October 11, 2010
