In short: is this the best 10k in the world?!i think so! In full: Had read many positive reviews bout this race and had to do it.after running the british 10k twice i prayed the organisation would exceed it and wasnt wrong.superb scenery, amazing support, goodybag and mint medal made this a race to do each year no metter where you live (i travel from devon).flawless.best 10k iv ever done.such a shame dates had to be moved to the sunday in 2014 Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Brilliant! In full: What a great race. Sadly I was injured and so couldn't live up to my start pen and may have held a couple of people up. Frankly if slower runners kept to the left ( as I did and thus completely missed Mo coming in the opposite direction) it would not be a problem. Even with my injury I had to go on the pavement to get past a row of ladies walking in a line across the road and having a chat! I loved the whole thing, the atmosphere, the empty roads before the start, watching tourists standing in the normally traffic bound Westminster Bridge, the finish, the medal....have already booked for next year! In short: Enjoyable, well-organised but crowded at the start In full: It's a good race, and there's almost a party atmosphere when Mo Farah runs down the Embankment to cheers from the runners going up the other side. But the early part of the race is very congested with runners who have wildly exaggerated their predicted finish times, which makes for frustrating running. It would be good if the organisers could make more of an effort to weed out slower runners from the fast end of the field in order to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
That said, I'd definitely do it again. Date of review: June 3, 2013
In short: Excellent race In full: Second year doing this race and really enjoyed it again. The organisation of getting people to the start and into their correct pens was superb, and there were more than enough toilets to keep everyone happy.
I was in Red 'B' and the only real congestion point seemed to be at the first corner of the Mall and after that seemed a good spread. Hoever when I was running back after the 6kms mark looking at all the Green/Blue runners I could see how this could be more of an issue if you were in a wave behind people with 'optimistic' finishing times...
Goody bag in fine (and not really why I turn up personally). Atmosphere and support excellent. Marshals as good as ever. Plus it's not every day you get to high-five Mo Farah as you jog round London...
Will definitely be back... Date of review: May 30, 2013
In short: fab weather, fab course, fab atmosphere but more of an experience than a race. In full: Great weather and amazing atmosphere but to me not really a chance of racing.I started in pen red c and felt like I was weaving past slower runners and not getting a steady pace for about the first 7k which was a bit disappointing. I loved the sights of London, the music, drums and crowds but not sure I will be back to race- maybe a spectator next year? Date of review: May 30, 2013
In short: Why would you expect a PB with 12000 runners? In full: Well organised and good value run through the centre of London. If you like yer sights you're in for a treat as you don't miss too many. And I spent half an hour queuing for a wee and nearly missed my starting pen. My fault, should have got there earlier! A really good, friendly 10k but not for the too competitive!! Date of review: May 29, 2013
