In short: Very muddy!
In full: A nice low key village race in the Ashdown Forest, the torrential rain made this hilly trek through woods and farmland very gruelling but at least it didn't rain on the day. Apart from the last 2k which was along a cycle route (former railway), it was pretty much up and down for most of the race including the infamous hill at 3.5k that I read about in the reviews of previous races. Great views on the way around and friendly atmosphere at start and finish with homemade cakes, a barbecue and ale on offer. Good marshalling as well with two water points along the way. I recorded my worst time ever and came second last but I enjoyed this race very much and I'm sure I'll do it again next year.

In short: You'll hate running on the road after this!
In full: 1st time this year but I've done a lot of cross country running in the past year, and because of the rain the previous 48 hours, this had reduced most of the course to a mud fest.. one of, if not the hardest 10k I've ever done but I loved it (hence only about 120 runners) The only negative comment is the parking, no signage and one bloke trying to cope with all the traffic. Race Marshal's were ace though.

In short: Great Race
In full: One of my favourite races, love the off road challenge and the big hill half way round.

The 2K race is a good challenge which my kids enjoy doing.

Can't wait until the next one. Well organised with refreshments, showers , cakes, bbq etc

In short: goody but tuffy
In full: Im a newbie to this race and wasnt prepared for the course, thought Id turn up and give it a go only to put it into the top 3 hardest 10ks Ive done! If you like em tough as this then can I recommend the the Gatton 10k in Surrey. Il be back to give this another go as I now know whats involved. As for the numpty who did it last year and apparently yawned all the way round speaking as someone whos done "Tough Guy" twice I wasnt yawning much or looking for a diet gluton wheat free burger at the end just something to challenge myself. Its a good atmosphere and excellent XC training dont expect a PB but it will stand you in good stead for when you hit the flat course. If you like to train on hills this is it!

In short: what goes up must come down
In full: a fairly tough 10k, after being out with a injury i thought a gentle fun run would be the best way to start back however this is a tough course well the first 5k which was climb after climb but on the plus side the next 5k was mainly downhill. really enjoyed it, lovely scenery and a good mix of runners. a nice medal at the finish, i will be back again next year.
