In short: excellent race - fabulous setting - deserves more runners next yearr In full: Well done to St James's Place and Ollie Wakefield of the Somewhere Else running club for putting on such a super event, and thanks to the Bathurst Estate for allowing the park to be used.
This race deserves a much bigger field next year, as for a 10k the organisation and general set up (food, band, music, support)is the best I have experienced in an admittedly short running career.
One thing inexperienced runners should note is that 'undulating' does not mean the odd gentle incline, and just when you hit the 8k mark and you think it will get better on the run-in....it doesn't, with the only flat bit until the last 400 metres being a gallop through a ploughed field with 6 inches of grass on top - what fun! Also, it was extremely hot, which meant that going off too fast was not recommended.
Look forward to this one next year. Highly recommended. Date of review: June 15, 2009
In short: Brilliant off-road race. In full: Great course, friendly and encouraging marshalls, and an excellent start/finish area. Shame the first water station ran out of cups, but that was the only hiccup. I hope this race is back next year! Date of review: June 14, 2009
