In short: shambles In full: nobody seemed to know what to do or where to go hence wrong route taken on first lap culminating in only 8.5k being run, won,t be running this next year even though its on my doorstep Date of review: February 23, 2010
In short: Ripped off In full: When the race was cancelled due to the snowy conditions, my husband and I could not do the re-scheduled date as we had already entered the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon on that weekend.
Our attempts to contact the race organiser to get a refund have been completely ignored.
This, combined with recently viewed comments on last year's event, as well as people's comments about this year's, means we certainly won't ever consider running this event in future.
The race entry fee appears to be clean profit that the race organiser makes, and is determined not to refund - even though they've done nothing to earn it! Date of review: February 23, 2010
In short: A mixed bag In full: The course was somewhat repetitive given that there was a lake nearby. It seemed like a cross country race. I had pre-booked so I was aware of the route, so I can't grumble on that count. As for scenery, I can't think of many places in the UK that look great on a cold, wet February day. It seemed like quite a happy bunch of runners at the start. However, it looks as if that changed by the end of the race!
Some of the marshalls were very encouraging, as with most races one or two couldn't have cared less. The plusses were that first aiders were on hand, as were the police who helped out with holding gates open! Not all bad, but the course really does need measuring properly.
In short: great park so why did we run around the football pitches In full: Confusion and poor organisation let this event down with marshals not knowing where the race started, only two offering any encouragement to the runners, one sending everybody the wrong way on the first lap and the 8k marker was almost at the finish. My Garmin showed 5.45 miles. As i slowed down to a fast jog rather than pushing for a time after the first lap of 3 but still finished in an unbelievable '10k' time of 47 minutes when i struggle to do 5k in 25 minutes i would guess that the course was at least half a mile short.
Can only agree with posts on the forum asking for something to be done about those responsible for this event and will certainly not enter any of the other races in the series advertised by the same organisers. Date of review: February 21, 2010
