In short: Tough but very scenic friendly evening race
In full: Ran my first Goyt Valley 10k last night, absolutely loved it. Beautiful surroundings for a 'no 'frills' race which took in paths, fields, a small stream (wading was involved - I think this was due to the heavy rain and not a regular feature, though I'm not sure!) and a wood. It was as billed by the organisers; gentle first few k then you start to encounter hills. For someone who usually runs on the flat these were a real challenge. Sneaky last hill as well right at the finish! Profits went to a great cause; Mountain Rescue. Will be back next year to try for a better time.

Thanks to the organisers for a fantastic race, and to the marshalls who stood in torrential rain and were very supportive.

In short: Awesome race, 10k of muddy fun
In full: Last did this race in 2010, when it was very hot. This year it was pouring with rain, extremely muddy and again very very tough. Love all the Wilmslow races, all very scenic, all very tough and all for local great causes. One of the highlights of the race year.

In short: Superb Race
In full: Entered this year after missing last year through work. As we were up on holiday this year it was only 10miles down the road.

Fantastic course, excellent support from the marshals, and a worthy course.

I found it hard going, but didn't finish last which was my main goal.

Thanks to everyone who organised and helped out.

In short: No understimation that the hills were undulating! Tough, challenging but fun :)
In full: Great way to spend an April evening. The hills were tough but I managed every one of them! Well organised and the marshall at the end of the last hill was a great encouragement.

In short: if you like it tough then this is for you
In full: 2nd go at this race and this year managed to run the whole way but it hurt like hell. the first 2.7 miles is flat with one downhill then you cross the river before a short but very steep hill. short break before a long and very steady climb. after that its up and down with a sharp climb just before the finish.
lots of club runners but there's no time limit so all runners welcome. i love these no frills races. thanks to the organisers and the marshalls for another great race.

In short: Great scenery, friendly, and challenging
In full: A great way to spend a lovely spring evening. A varied course with a fast first half, 'undulating' second half and a sting in the tail. No fuss or frills, just slick organisation, a friendly but competitive atmosphere and a great cause to raise money for (nountain Rescue). Thanks to the organisers and to the marshals.
