In short: great 5k run as usual
In full: this time last year this was my first 5k, and i was delighted to run this race again this year. the monsoon we had during the day ensured that the mud trails added an extra dimension to this xc route. great organisation with a some great views that were ample reward for some tough little hills. cant wait till next year

In short: Fantastic race, great scenery....but tough
In full: Two friends and I had signed up under no illusions that this was going to be a toughie as the park is quite hilly!!! We had some flash flooding and torrential rain in the morning so we knew the course was going to be muddy, and muddy it was!!! This was my second 5k race (had completed the Gavin Tipper 5k a few weeks earlier) and it was challenging but still managed to get a decent enough time (for me anyway!!) great organisation, friendly marshalls and a lovely finish where everyone claps you through.....and all for a great cause! Onwards now with my training for the Stourbridge Stumble (10k)

In short: Great atmostphere and support, but course tough for a beginner!
In full: I am a beginner runner - in my 40th year, and at least 4st over-weight, so am not starting from a position of strength here!!

We know Baggeridge Park well, so I had no illusions that the course would be easy. However there is a BIG climb (up to the Toposcope, if you know the park) after about 500m. This was my first 5k - and it's fair to say my training was not the best - but this is not the easiest start for the first run!

However the whole feeling of the event was great. The marshalling was excellent, and very encouraging to those of us at the back of the field. And, as the park is a regular for runners, I have to thank the gentleman who, I don't think was part of the organization, but clearly new the run was taking place, and interrupted his own run 3 times to encourage me up the final 3 climbs - it really helped!

Overall a very enjoyable evening - would not recommend to other first time 5k'ers, unless you are supremely confident, but very welcoming and will certainly he hoping to significantly better my course record of 48.06 next year.

In short: Tough hills, nice setting and well organised for a good cause
In full: Despite doing a lot of my training over Baggeridge I still found this race tougher than expected. My thighs are still aching! Well worth doing this one for the atmosphere and scenery just don't expect a PB!

In short: First 5k for me, and felt i had to work for it
In full: This was my first 5k, and having read reports from previous years i did think at one stage maybe this wasnt the ideal first race for me, however having walked the track a couple of weeks before, the build up weeks warming up etc meant that crossing the finish line was well worth the effort. I would maybe look to do a road run as my next race, however this was a wholly enjoyable race and really made me put the effort in

In short: Challenging!
In full: Having read reviews of this race, I didn't know what I had let myself in for. They talked about the hills and the "no flat bits for recovery".

However, having run this event - it was not as bad as I had feared. There were some big hills and quite a lot of people walked the really steep ones, but genuinely, it was really enjoyable.

Very well organised, well marshalled and clearly directed with an interesting course. The scenery was fantastic and I really enjoyed it.

I hope to be back again next year!
