In full: Hi
I did not do this race last year but have read the reviews and there is lots of room for improvement. So we at Ealing Eagles running club have come on board to advise and help out with Running this race this year (2011), we will have a clearly laid out and accurately measured course that will be well marshalled. With 10nr Km signs. Adequate water and extra loo's. We are addressing all the points raised on the forum and hope to run a much more professional race, which will still be good fun and is excellent value for money. Give it a go!

In short: Badly organised run around Gunnersbury Park
In full: This event was just plain poorly organisedin ways that are just unfathomable. The course was totally inaccurate with different runners going in different directions depending on whether marshalls could be bothered pointing. The guy who won it did about 9.1 km whereas I did about 10.2km. They managed to get my finish time incorrect by 7 minutes which is a new level of incompetence. The baggage handling is basically just a whole load of bags sitting unsupervised during the race and the course map looks like it was drawn up by a slightly retarded child.

Really, you'd be better off going down a running track with a stop watch than going on an event organised by what are clearly lazy, incompetent non-runners.

In short: Dodgy organisation but good fun! My girlfriend got out of bed in the morning and decided to run it! (not trained before!)

In full: Nice, flat course - basically 2 figures of 8 round the park. Organisation had good intentions but could have been better - we started 15 minutes late and I only saw one distance marker at 8kms. Having said that I'd consider doing it again next year

In short: Well-meaning but shambolic
In full: The organisers don't seem to have thought the run aspect of this event through. A map of the park emailed out and/ on the website would have enabled people to a) find the start & b) know vaguely where the course was. I went the wrong way several times, sometimes even in front of the sparse marshalls who didn't correct me. This wouldn't have been quite as bad if we hadn't been assured before, during and after that we "wouldn't get lost". An 11am start and no presentation til everyone had finished led to a rather late finish - personally I would have preferred an earlier start, and the option to receive our bottle and tea and cake (all v nice touches) earlier.

In short: Could have been so much better
In full: Shame as the park is a nice setting for the run but the course and lack of organisation made it barely enjoyable, the best part of the race was the price, £10 entry is great and probably reflects the lack of marshalls, distance markers and the fact the course was at least 400meters short, with a little more effort this could be a 10k.

In short: Distinct lack of directions and KM markers!
In full: The park is lovely and the organisers very kind and friendly. One of the previous comments mentioned potential for getting lost - I did in fact get lost and was slightly bemused when I finished in 43 minutes (highly unlikely for me!). It turns out that I had only completed 7.5k as had missed a bit due to poor directions. I did go back and complete the missing section but this of couse affected my final time - and meant that I ran up the final slope to finish not once but twice!!
