In short: Pretty but painful.
In full: A local runner at the start told me this is "quite uppity and downity all round really", and quite right he was too. It was hot and hard work. The marshalls and other runners were friendly but there wasn't much other support, and no goody bag for finishers. There was ample parking, albeit a fair way away, and an extra loo in the village hall, which was a good thing given the number of non-runners in the toilet queue minutes before the start. A marshall stationed to stop that happening in the last 20 minutes would be much appreciated.

In short: If you like a challenge....
In full: This is the 3rd time I've run this race and I've really enjoyed it each time even though it's a really tough hilly (but scenic) 10K course. There's a nice atmosphere and the marshalls are very friendly and supportive.
My only criticism this year was that the water in the cups at the water stations tasted awful.

In short: If you love hills this is the race for you!
In full: Third year that I've run this and I've not run a tougher 10k course anywhere, however the course offers plenty of rewards. Well organised and a friendly village 10k - which I love. So many thanks!

In short: Love hills - love this race
In full: One of my favourites and the third time I have run the race. I love the feeling of it, starting and finishing on the green then a really tough hilly 10k. Very friendly too - always seem to get chatting to somebody.

In short: good day out
In full: we had been warned about the hills and yes, previous comments had not been exaggerations...
Nice atmosphere during the race, friendly and supportive marshals.
The only negative point is that the water at the drink station had a terrible taste. The water in the finish was fine though and made up for it.

In short: Tough 10k but well worth it!
In full: This was my first year doing this 10k but from reading the other reviews I expected it to be hardwork and I wasn't disappointed! It was definitely worth it though for the scenery and the friendly atmosphere and the flatter races I have coming up suddenly seem easy by comparison. The number of entrants was about right and the race was well organised with very friendly and supportive marshalls. Will definitely be back again next year. Really enjoyable race just don't expect a PB.

In short: More like Toad Hills!!!
In full: Can't fault the organisation or the marshelling - They were fantastic (as were the cakes after). The race itself was hard work, I'd read that there'd be hills but I had no idea how many and how steep. When I wasn't looking at my feet and wishing it was over the scenery was absolutely beautiful. I don't regret doing this race although my muscles hate me and like a true coward I won't be doing it again!!!

In short: A challenging race!
In full: First time I entered this race and really enjoyed it despite the hills (I think I counted about 4). The weather was just about right, not too hot. After the run plenty of food - bacon sarnies, burgers, beer, pimms, good cuppa Yorkshire tea and lots of cakes. Definitely will do this again in 2012.
