In short: Very flat 10mile race around the race course and countryside in thirsk, starting and finishing at the race course. Nice race but it was spoilt alittle by needing to run up and down one road for about 2 miles just to make the mileage up to ten

In short: Don't claim you have a baggage drop and not bother!
In full: and the tee shirt was cheap.. but the race is pleasant enough just don't bother unless you have a car or someone to leave your stuff with.

One volunteer told me that the authorities said they had to have a baggage drop - and the info on runners world claimed they did... but they didn't (like a lot of places) and this annoyed me as I don't drive went on my own and had checked in advance and expected one

In short: A nice sharpener warm up for a 1/2 or even a good race in your training for full marathon. And good for my annual "how much slower am I?" run.

In short: Lovely fast scenic course, some parts traffic free. Well organised and well marshalled. Extensive prizes for top 10 male and female and incorporated Yorkshire championships. Can highly recommend this race, I will be back again.

In short: how far to the start line!!!
In full: my first 10 mile race.
car parking EXCELLENT
Route marking EXCELLENT
water EXCELLENT
collecting chip/race number could be miles better, as i was an online entry i had to collect it on race day, went to the main area, asked a steward, told to go across to the other hall, went there, asked another steward where i was to go, they pointed at a list of names on the walls, looked for me, not there, told to go BACK to the first hall and ask someone in a no sign posted office for my number, got the number and had to go back to the OTHER hall to collect the number.

The START. What was going on there. you walk out onto the main road then walk back in through the caravan park, over a fence, round a building or two then come out on the road where you start from.
no gun or anything that i heard, just the crowd going forward was the first we knew about the race starting.
the ROUTE, good, open roads but felt safe at all times due to the signs.
6 miles, you then head back on yourself, which is very down heartening as you see runners who are a mile in front of you looking knackered coming towards you. would have also ben nice to be told how much further you have to run before you turn back around as it felt like MILES and MILES.
The FINISH, so glad when i crossed the line but the steep incline directly after it followed by the steeper decline wasn't something i was expecting after 10 miles.
GOODIE BAG. poor, one basic t-shirt. not even a mars bar :-(
OVERALL, it was a good race but could do with some slight tweaking.
move the start and finish a wee bit, few more count down signs for the 6/7 mile section and also a count down to the finish line.
Can't see me doing this again which is a shame as it's a good distance.

In short: Fast n flat very main road in places
In full: Thirsk race course makes a great venue for a big race with lots of toilets and space for parking etc. The course is flat and mainly on country lanes, although in one place it goes onto a main coastal road full of TVR's scooters and horseboxes, none of which slowed down or drove very sensibly. The marshalling and the organisation are good and there is chipped timing which is a bonus.

Marshals were cheery and friendly. There are two waterstations. I did a PB.

In short: Great. Loved it.
In full: Wish I'd opted just to do this one instead of Brampton to Carlisle as well. Got a tee-shirt at the end (Come on Brampton) Was reasonably traffic free and what traffic there was didn't seem to want to be on our bit of the road! I loved it (even the water at the start couldn't dampen my enthusiasm) I got a PB. result!

In short: wet but great run
In full: I wasn't a late entry but by the time I got to the start everyone had gone! It all got bottlenecked at the gate to go across to the start, so while everyone was at the start thinking it was delayed due to late entries I can assure you it wasn't. I had no idea how far behind the main field I was, but was relieved it was chipped otherwise my time would have been appauling! I love the run and considering the weather it all went smoothly, praise to the marshalls for standing out in it all for the duration. Will be back next year!

In short: I didn't realise I was entering a time trial!!
In full: I congregated on time before we were 'walked to the start' But due to the fact that only 2 people could cross the racecourse at once, by the time I reached the start the field had left.
Due to this, there were slow runners being bumped and fast ones wasting energy dodging them.
This was rubbish, the race isn't just about the fastest few, there were 1000 runners who all deserved respect.(How did they know I wasn't a potential winner anyway?)
