In short: Fancy the faster runners wanting to start near the front. Who'd have thought it? In full: This is a race. The people competing for top places start near the front. Why should they move back to the middle of the pack to allow slower runners to start in front of them. This would lead to them being impeded and a far more dangerous situation at the start of a race on a narrow road. Far better the fact that people were lined up faster to slower. In short: shame about the to determined always winners at the front causing problems at the start In full: my first ten miler despite the rain i really enjoyed it. However the traffic was a bit inpatient expecting us to run into hedges and pools so they could travel faster than the speed limit, it would have been better to have more 'caution runners' signs out. Faster runners at the front were a bit arrogant and selfish when refusing to move past the start line to allow us slower mid-way runners to line up. Instead they provided a human wall which was a struggle to get past resulting in a delayed start and very damaged toes from the stampede before the race started. something the organisers may look at next year. Other than that the race was good. Date of review: December 7, 2007

In short: Wet but fun In full: Being a slow runner, I went straight to the back, and had none of those problems at the start others had. Perhaps if the faster runners weren't so determined to have their toes on the start line it would have gone a bit smoother for them. At the back it was friendly and fun, for my first 10 mile race it was great. Shame about the weather, but the marshalls were great. Date of review: December 5, 2007

In short: A good run that could have had a less chaotic start if runners clogging up the start line realised their own ability. In full: As far as the organisers are concerned there is little else they could do other than change the start point. Runners did little to endere us to the driving public with a demonstration of diabolical race discipline. Actually forcing cars onto the wrong side of the road to save their already wet feet getting wet! If traffic had been coming the other way there would have been a problem. Runners throwing water bottles over the hedge after the second drinks station instead of dropping it to be retreived by the support staff. Shame really. Date of review: December 4, 2007

In short: A perfectly enjoyable run In full: A shambolic start (as others have mentioned)and pre-race organisation wasn't great either (couldn't make contact via phone or email, and when my number did finally arrive, a little more information would have been useful) but on the whole I enjoyed the race despite the awful weather (and it is December after all so can't blame the organisers for that!) And great to get a run out on the roads at this time of year. If I lived locally I'd happily run it again. Date of review: December 4, 2007

In short: A huge thanks to everyone who battled the rain. In full: Led the race for 10 seconds at the start (scary)as i thought I was at the back!!! Confusing. A good T-shirt but no goodie bag to go with it which I was really needing by the end of the race. I achieved a personal best even in the bad weather so enjoyed it all in all!! In short: A nice 10 mile run despite the weather and poor start. In full: A nice run, flat and fast. Dreadful weather but could have been worse in December. Well organised except the confusion st the start. Encouraging marshalls despite the rain. Nice t-shirt and impressed with speed of printed results at finsih. Thanks to all at Thirk & Sowerby Harriers, will be back again next year Date of review: December 3, 2007

In short: Few organisational tweeks required but always a good race. In full: Few problems with organisation at the start was not what anyone wanted on such a cold and wet day but I'm sure this can be sorted out for next year. Like the new time of year because there arn't many pb opportunities at this time of year so a good way to finish the year. Thanks to all the marshels; I was freezing at the finish so God knows how they must have felt. Date of review: December 3, 2007

In short: A really good race, I'm sure that by now the organisers are aware of the problems at the start In full: There were problems at the start, but the organisers weren't helped by the weather cos we all wanted to turn up at the last minute. I understand that this was the first time the race started from the lane. Let's hope that the organisers aren't put off, but look to improve the position next year. A good race on a potentially fast course. A big thank you to the marshalls and drinks station people for standing out in the rain. I'm sure they felt wetter than we did.
