In short: Not a bad marathon warm up
In full: Great 2 lap race, tadbit expensive when you had to pay for baggage drop and only recieved a mug! Route was ok- Hampton Court was lovely in the sun, some marshalls were interested and others were not! Route busy in parts but due to people running/walking 2 or 3 abreast and roads not shut so overtaking was hard and risky!
Did like the organisers honesty in the final instructions- that no matter how many toilets they provided there would never be enough! But maybe next time if the toilets are positioned on a road that is open and busy have someone controlling the queue so it is not blocking said road!
Overall I would do it again if I was feeling flush!

In short: nothing provided...no toilets, no post race food, no medal
In full: No toilets en-route...for 16 miles this in unacceptable.
Very tacky mug instead of medal at end of race.
No food after race. Just cups of water!!
Had to pay £1 to put bag on a manned area of open grass...rip off and very lucky it wasn't raining!!

In short: Good early run out
In full: I really enjoyed this run - have stuck mainly to 10Ks and under but this was good prep for upcoming half marathon.

Lots and lots of overtaking, which I'm used to but runners didn't always show good etiquette.

The Hampton Court path was fantastic, thanks goodness all the pot holes had been filled.

2nd half was pretty rubbish scenery-wise but there were more spectators cheering you on than the 1st half which paid dividends for motivation.

Loved the start time, well organised, but not a lot of atmosphere in the finishers pen at the end. Thanks to the army lady who clipped off my timing chip, had no chance of doing it myself!

Would do it again, if I'm feeling rich at the time of booking.

In short: NO HILLS - Thank Goodness !!!
In full: Pretty dedent race overall. The course was just interesting enough (even on the second lap) and quite pretty in places, although some of the footpaths were abit tricky. The marshall's seemed more like paid workers than actual runners, so it would explain their apathy.
The atmosphere was lacking in the open parts of the course, just seemed to be lots of surprised old ladies popping out for a newspaper shocked by 5000 runners going by, the support near the finish line was great though.
PROS - Bad Drop was fantastic, start/finish area very well managed, started absolutely ON-TIME which was great.
CONS - No goody bag, the Mug was nice, but for 16miles of effort - only a mug !?!? A little bit tight really.
OVERALL - Don't expect too much - but a good solid well organised training run.

In short: A good fast workout
In full: This is a flat and fast course. On the whole the organisation is good, although it did seem to have the most disinterested marshals of any event that I have run. There were clearly many runners who were using this event as a marathon warm-up and were perhaps not overly used to running etiquette. The staggered start and two-lap course meant there was a lot of overtaking going on - not easy when groups of slower runners were running two or even three abreast on a pavement next to a busy road. Still, I enjoyed the run and expect to be back next year.

In short: Good early morning workout
In full: Yes its expensive and you can tell its organised by a money making machine but its convenient and that is why so many do it.If you want value for money head North and try some of the smaller town races. My biggest gripe is roads not closed and the lack of post race refreshments. No need to kill the environment with goody bags and useless t-shirts but some bananas or bars and sugary treats instead of another lucozade might ease the pain.

In short: Expensive training run
In full: A very expensive mug was the reward for a 16 mile run! I have run many races and have seen many stewards, however, these were the worst ever!! Only one smile of encouragement from one steward at Griggs Road! Most managed to stare at the road or talk to each other but all managed to give the impression they did not want to be there. This event is clearly just a money making exercise for the promoters. The lady who handed me a naff 50p shop mug for all my efforts after the race looked embarrassed. Not even a goodie bag. Save the £25 entrance fee for a meal after your last training run before the London Marathon, you have earned it. Overall not worth it. Do the Finchley Twenty or Tunbridge Wells Half next time and get treated to real enthusiasm by the organisers/stewards!

In short: Fast course, Well marshalled with drinks every 3 miles, Good scenery (first half), Clear mile markers, But a bit expensive
In full: Separate start times spread out the field reasonably well barring a few sections along the Portsmouth Road. Found the mile markers very useful to manage my pace, still didn't stop me going to fast for the first 8 miles! Good enthusiastic crowds in Kingston with some support dotted about the course as well. Very helpful marshalls on tricky road sections for the second half of each lap, and plenty of drinks stations.
