In short: A great day
In full: Despite a delayed start for many (made more frustrating by what must surely be Birmingham’s Most Annoying Woman giving ‘encouragement’ over the PA system) and many runners not starting in their allocated pen which resulted in much weaving for the first couple of miles, a superb time was enjoyed by all. An interesting route that included sections around the city centre, suburbs and parkland was lined with enthusiastic support for the entire run. Plenty of water stations, bands and even a local church playing Chariots of Fire on it’s bells helped take everyone’s mind off tired legs. The course toughened in the final couple of miles with a challenging uphill section, before a final flat sprint to the finish line. An excellent medal formed part of a good quality goody bag that contained items ranging from a t-shirt to a sachet of anti-aging cream (were they trying to tell me something?)

In short: Brum at it's very best (almost)
In full: +'s
Fast course (new PB despite heavy cold).
Brilliant atmosphere especially Bournville and Broad Street - Cannon Hill Park mile was a nice diversion on the way out.
There were different bands playing throughout the course
Very well sign posted mile and km (for those of us who live in the 21st century) markers.
Lots of water stations.
Nice medal and times available in the evening.
-'s
Start terrible logisitcs and organisation and spent 1st 5k dodging stragglers. 11 minutes to cross start line is too long for 10-12 thousand runners.
I would like to see the participants be more representative of Brum's vibrant ethnic mix - the volunteers and organisers certainly were

In short: Woo! Go Brum!
In full: I was very happy when I saw the course-only half a mile from my house! Course was flatter than last year, but really didn't appreciate the long slow climb at the end! Organisation was pretty much fine, could've done with some more signposting for the bag storage but that was about it. Liked the goody bag- and the random cranberry sauce!!

In short: Really good local race! Will defintely be back!!
In full: Enjoyed running in a big race so close to home! Needs better organisation at start - to ensure people are in the correct colours!! I started nearer the front than I should have done - only because I could not see the end and I was actually fine where I was - not overtaken a great deal, but over took lots! and gained a PB in 1:48! Last mile tough! Water & sports drinks could have been spaced out a little more evenly though. Apart from that - Fantastic!!
