In short: Amazing
In full: Amazing race - I still have runners high nearly two weeks later! A few problems with direction signs being a little vague - luckily I didn't go too far adrift but I think some other people did so this does really need to be address for next year. The cows and bullocks caused me some stress but that's just down to me being a wuss! Definitely not one to do if you are chasing a fast time, but if you like 'interesting' courses highly recommended!

In short: Very tough but good organisation in superb scenery make for a special race.
In full: Excellent course mostly on the flat (Somerset Levels) but includes enough hills to make it hard. The hills are super steep especially at 12.5miles! The ploughed fields also slow you down considerably. No chance of a pb but if you do nothing but chase pb's then stick to the road. Plenty of water stations but are bottles ideal? I saw a lot of mostly full bottles thrown on the floor within a hundred yards of the station. A few extra marshals would be helpful too-I saw two groups go wrong. I emailed the organiser and he said that one sign had moved (kids?) and the normal problem of lack of marshals caused these errors. So please suport your clubs by standing out on the course marshalling. Very good facilities at the start/finish area including showers. Very good medal too! And you could buy (at a very good good price) lasts year's quality prize.
Will be back next year as I enjoy this race a lot.

In short: A challenging Saturday Stroll!!!!!
In full: Thank you to everyone involved in the race. The marshalls and guys at the water stops were excellent! The run is still relatively small but still enough people to chat to along the route. Don't be fooled by the run being flat it is still a real challenge by the terrain, but taking a look at the lovely scenery eases the pain in the legs for a short while at least. Definitely one to try especially if you are a hill hater. A lovely medal at the end and a very nice paper weight!!

In short: Excellent value for money!
In full: Congratulations to the organisers for putting on such a good event. Marshalling was very good and ample water stations were available. Don't let the flat profile fool you - running over number stiles and through hard, ploughed fields for 26 miles is an absolute killer on the ankles!

In short: glorious open spaces, great marshalling
In full: At the start I asked if I should take a map but I needn't have worried as the route along the miles of riverbank were self-evident and the abundant marshalls were clear about our route in the difficult places. Going for the most part was easy and flat with a few rutted fields thrown in and the two challenging hills at the end. Great organisation done with TLC

In short: Hard, hot race
In full: Even thought this is a flattish course it is mainly off road and grueling on the legs. A lot better organised this year with lots more marshalls and route markers, so no chance of getting lost!! A very hot day and the course is quite exposed but worthwhile doing.

In short: Very tough course, not good for beginners either but worth the effort.
In full: I ran the half but don't let that fool you! Very tough course with well over half being cross country including gates, stile, ploughed fields and (seelingly) vertical hills! So no chance of a PB but we don''t enter multi-terrain events for PB's do we? Frequent water stations which helped on a hot September afternoon. Not a huge amount of marshals but well sign posted (but there was a bit of a gap between some of the signs but if you trusted them you were okay). No mile markers but that's a bit hard on multi-terrain courses and with the rise of GPS watches (I use a Garmin) not so important for many.
The half was a first this year and so only had a small field which made it rather friendly. With a 1130 start the prize giving is rather late at 1730 so I doubt many people would hang around.
I plan to do this again next year as all in all I really enjoyed myself (even whilst walking up the vertical hill at 12 miles!). Quality memento too.

In short: Not for the faint hearted
In full: The course is mostly off road and with gates and to very steep hills to overcome any chance of a pb goes out of the window. The course is very senic. The one thing that let it down was no mile markers.
