In short: Everything you want from a race In full: Excellent race - low key with about 150 runners. Very well organised and friendly race with a mixture of both club and non-club runners of different abilities. Running on sand is fun, (but obviously not as quick as a road race) and the scenary great - hot day with glorious blue sky in the background. The race was cheap to enter and good fun. When you compare it with the BUPA 10Ks at 4 times the cost I would prefer to run the Blackpool race any day. There are several good races I have run organised by Fylde Coast Runners, including The Windmill 10k, Stanley Park 10k and the Great North West Half Marathon, all of which are well organised, good fun and cheap to enter. In short: Excellent well organised race. In full: I would definately do this race again. Tough running on sand on a red hot day, but fantastic scenary, well organised and enjoyable. Deniate PB potential. Date of review: May 28, 2012
In short: Gruelling beach race in baking heat. Well-organised, nice shiny medal at the end. Very welcoming but not much support en-route. Very disappointed with the number of runners who did not stay to support those yet to finish. But a race to remember. Date of review: May 27, 2012
In short: I missed the Glasgow half for this huge disappointment! In full: There's nothing more frustrating than being misled, especially when you've travelled 3 hours for the privilidge. I didn't expect Berlin Marathon standards, and the lack of distance markers, stewards, a finishing line and dry land I can forgive but surely the advertised 10k and 'commerative medal isn't too much to ask? In short: Poor communication spoilt the experience In full: Cut short to 5m without any announcement. Why couldn't we have done 2 laps of a 5k circuit? Completely bonkers.
If the organiser had made an announcement at the start (there was a PA system available!!!) then everyone would have run the race at 5m pace and not had anything left in the tank for another 1.25 miles.
Running on the beach was a real buzz and this should be a top race.
I appreciate that it is a thankless job organising a race but this was a fundamental error and there are no excuses. Date of review: September 4, 2006
