In short: This is just what Northampton needs.
In full: A good route taking in many of the towns sights including All Saints church, the market square and both sports stadiums. Very nice running on closed roads and the occasional dog-leg meant you could look out for friends who were also running. Good support along the route with bands playing and drumming to get you going. Great idea to start it at the football stadium which is just off the ring road near the M1 junction, so very easy to find and access. Plenty of parking near to the start line. Despite arriving a bit late, I had no problem parking and no problem getting away again once I had finished the 10k race. The slight delay to the start didn't bother me. The aerobics instructor on stage kept everyone warmed up and entertained. Great atmosphere overall. Looking forward to next year.

In full: This race was an excellent experience or me. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The delayed start was understandable.....the course must be made safe. I will be looking forward to doing it again next year. As someone quite new to running, i appreciated the friendlines of the race. You didnt feel that you had to perform at a certain speed. It was also hugely inspiring to see the fast runners and I hope to set a etter PB for myself soon.

Is great to have an opportunity like this in Northampton.

In short: Great potential but appauling organisation for this first race...
In full: I'm sure they'll improve next year but starting so late after warming up was terrible, then having to stand in a queue at the finish when really all i wanted to do was lay down and recover - could be potentially dangerous.

Given the price of entry you would expect more - even for a first year.

If things improve I may race again as if organisation improves has potential to be fantastic course

In short: Good course, well supported, shame about the delay at the start.
In full: Course was good as it was closed off to traffic, the parking was a nightmare as the course went in front of the entrance and you had to wait until the race had completly finished before getting out. The start was some 30mins late. However the atmosphrere was good and a good turn out, Spectators most of the way round plus locals putting on music, like the drumming by the school!

In short: Amateur organisation, uninspiring scenery, good weather
In full: Why, when Northampton has parks and other open spaces choose such an uninspiring route? Organisation from a "professional" company was way below anything that local clubs deliver. Only positives were the enthusiasm of the other runners and the weather.

In short: Super weather and a great event!
In full: A super day with a great atmosphere.
There was the odd teething problem which delayed the start times, but then as it was the first ever year of this event that's to be expected. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Northampton from a different angle. Very well supported and about time Northants had a road race/mass participation fun run with closed roads. Hope it's an annual event!

In short: They were lucky with the weather
In full: Our race pack never did arrive, long queue to re-register, no directions for parking, inadequate speaker system meant we had no idea what was happening during delayed start.
Once we got going it was a good race, friendly marshalls, good support around the course. Non-runner frinds doing this enjoyed it a lot. Sort out organisation and it will be a great event for the town.

In short: Nice course over closed roads but 40 minute late start less than ideal
In full: As a first time event there is a lot to be learnt by the organisers to ensure that runners can actually get to the event before the roads are closed. Well marshalled and plenty of encouragement around the course. Continued delays to the start time only made possible because it was sunny, likely to have been a riot if it had been cold and wet.

In short: Would only do it again because it's so local! Nice first attempt, but could have been better.
In full: Big delay at the start due to organisational problems, boring PA reading out what seemed to be the entire contents of the race pack while we waited! =(

The course itself was good, taking in the sights of Northampton, but the two sections where you ran up a road only to do a u-turn and run back on yourself was a little frustrating.

Overall it was ok, nice and local for me too so I'll be back, but would like to see the parking situation fixed next year. Had to sit cramping up in the car for a good half an hour while they sorted out the kid's race and didn't let any cars out!
