In short: 2 races in 1. 10k or 10 mile. Challenging In full: Done this race a few times, but have to say the 10 mile route is easier than the 10k route. Def challenging, not very steep hills but there are quite a few, but you do get the downs to. Great organisation, nice tech t shirt. Only downside was that the prize giving wasn't until 1.30, so we couldn't hang around. Date of review: July 11, 2011

In short: Lumpy! Once it got out of the town it was a nice run round country lanes. The organidation failed on directions to car parking which caused jams through the town prior to the race and no one seemed to know where the start line was. Date of review: July 22, 2007

In short: My first 10k so bound to be special. The hills were a shock but rewarding afterwards. In full: Really enjoyed this race, even if it was more what i would call hilly than undulating. Very friendly crowd, but a bit chaotic at the start and could have done with a few more marshalls on route. very nice T-hirt for all finishers and the organisers really tried hard to make it a day out for the whole family. Pity the weather was not better. Will definatley remember this and hope to be back next year Date of review: July 16, 2007

In short: A challenging race, slightly let down by some flaws In full: This seemed like a good idea at the time - my wife could run the 10 mile and I the 10k, so I could finish before her, rather than the other way round. In hindsight though the effect of the faster 10 mile runners overtaking me in the last few kilometres was not good for my morale - not sure what other 10k runners thought. We were later than expected and the parking was a shambles. There was a big queue through the town centre due to cars parked on the side of the main road, and when we reached the school (where the instructions directed us to) we were told to go back through town to some sports centre - as this involved the queue and no certain chance of parking we ignored this advice and ended up parking a mile away and having to run to make the start. The race should definitely be described as hilly - it seemed to be 70-80% uphill, with some very steep descents - any chance of reversing the route? There was no water at the finish, rather the tired runner was expected to hunt for it, eventually locating it behind the beer stand. There was also only one drink station on the 10k route around the 4 k, surely there could have been a joint 10k/10m one later on where the routes we together? I didn't take a drink at the drinks station as I assumed I could get one later. The T-shirts (which are excellent) were begin given away at the red bull tent, and I nearly didn't get mine as I had no idea it was there. If the organisers can improve on these things (esp the parking and water) then this would be a good race I would think about doing again. Sadly I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted too. In short: Hills, hills, hills... mostly up! In full: Arriving for the 10K a bit later than planned (10:15) we got stuck in the big jam coming through town, then at the (full) carpark the marshall was telling us to go back the way we'd just come. Not particulary helpful on other places to park, even though we'd told him about the chaos we'd just come through. We ended up parked about a mile away in the other direction (there was a mile marker nearby!). Possibly a bit more thought should have been put into where all the cars could have been parked... However, the organisers were trying their best, I changed from the 10 mile to the 10K (following an injury) and this was handled brilliantly. Nothing wrong with the course itself, there was lots of uphill (at points seemigly never-ending, maybe 80% of the course was up!) but there were loads of mile/ kilometer and arrow markers and some friendly marshalls so no chance of getting lost. Only one minor problem, there was only one water staion on the 10K, at about 4K. It should really have been a bit further on, I don't know how many stations the 10-milers had but could a joint station have been set up about 7-8K? A water station at the finish line would have been appreciated too (I finally found it over by the toilets!). I did like the inter-mingling of the races, I saw the same three 10-mile runners twice! Overall, a good course but the set-up could be improved (and the run round the field taken out, I always hate that bit!). Date of review: July 16, 2007
