In short: A tough race, but well worth the effort
In full: First-timer at Mud Runner, having previously enjoyed 2:09's Turbo X events.

Loved the course, loved the mud and loved the overall feel of the event.

My daughter and her friends entered the junior race and equally loved it.

My new favourite race.

Great work Kes and the team!

In short: they said 'nothing tougher'
In full: If only all races were this well organised. Over 3000 runners in two races and it went like clockwork. Chip timing meant it didn't matter what 'wave' you went in. Loads of loo's so virtually no queuing. Big hot tub at the end to soak away the mud and get over all those cold mud filled pits. My son did the kids race and couldn't get over being allowed to run in a river and bog! Race T-shirts in all sizes with special ladies fit ones too. Marshalls were brilliant. I'll definately be back next year. I would just add that if any first timers are thinking of doing this next time, don't wear ordinary trainers - some people could barely stay on their feet.Invest in a pair of fell or cross country shoes. Oh, and wear just shorts and vest - people in trousers and long sleeve tops were really struggling with the weight of their wet muddy clothes.

In short: Now that was hard
In full: Goodness, I did not know there could be so many types of mud.

I am not sure Mud Runner is right more like Mud Slither to my mind but what fun: awesome!!!!!!!!

Special thanks to the marshalls for pulling us out of the deeper swamps: I should think that must have been pretty exhausting.

Really good organisation and (happily) a first aid tent to help with bloodied knees after: not that you would notice until after a visit to the tub of love

Mud fest and then some more: most fun you could have outdoors on a sunday morning

Bring on 2013

In short: Best fun with your clothes off - unless they come off in the mud
In full: I grinned from start to finish in this 'race' As I said to one competitor as we waded through knee high mud,'it's like being able to get dirty without worrying about your mum telling you off when you get home'

It's hard to explain why it is so much fun - waist high mud, HUGE slippery ascents & descents, wading through lakes, climbing over, under & though obstacles - but it was the best fun I can ever remember having and I am now completely hooked, obsessed and driven to find more mud!

My advice is not to attempt this event in road shoes, I was surprised to see how many wore them. It is almost impossible unless you have a great pair of trail shoes {Salomon speedcross are the best in my view as I leapt round the course like a gazelle in them!}

Do it - you will not regret it!

In short: Great fun and very challenging!
In full: With all the dry weather recently I was slightly concerned it wouldn't be very muddy, but the organisers did a superb job creating loads of soggy mud pits and squidgy areas (also allowing us runners to further churn it up).

Great varied terrain with no shortage of uphill/downhill and the obstacles were fun too! Love running through the forest trails, very picturesque.

Overall very well organised- entry/exit/parking really easy, lots of loos and a urinal truck, course well marked, not too congested (the wave system worked pretty well (was in wave 1 and the fast wave 2 peeps only caught up about 5 mins from the end).

Gave it the top rating for PB since you set your PB at completing the Oblivion course! Aiming to beat my 1:10 next year...

Very fun day, punished it and well done to the organisers! Bring on the Classic in Oct!

In short: I can still smell the mud !!!!
In full: This is a tough run. I have done the mud runner and now the Obvilion, both are great races, but I have to say that I enjoyed this more. Fabulous obstacles, the location was just right, and the runners were the correct mixture. The lakes at the end took it out of me, but the crowd including my family made the day. I recommend this race to everyone.
