In short: Really enjoyed it - will certainly sign up next year! In full: Lovely route through the cambridge colleges and along the river - made me appreciate what a spectaclar part of the world I am lucky enough to live in! Date of review: November 3, 2009
In short: Hidden Parts of Cambridge In full: The first part of the race was very scenic and was enjoyable to run through the City centre, through Clare college, along the backs and along the river. The last part was a little dull as it was a loop around Midsummer common but it was well organised and a good race. Will definately do again next year. Date of review: October 27, 2009
In short: Scenic route but too many sharp corners In full: A great atmosphere and basically good event. However the section through Midsummer Common wasn't great with sharp hairpin turns and rough footing. Date of review: October 19, 2009
In short: Flat and quick In full: Flat as a pancake and varied views of lovely Cambridge make this a quick and scenic run. Friendly marshals (lots of whom were foreign - presume helpful students - thank you all), and a great drums band as you came back onto the green. Roads, paths, cobbles, short grass, lumpy grass - a bit of everything. Agree that there was something funny about the distance - beat my pb by 4 mins and I was going slow due to a mild injury! The easy run just adds to the feel-good-factor of a charity event, so perhaps it was deliberate Date of review: October 19, 2009
In short: Laid back run in a good cause In full: A very enjoyable run. The course was very twisty and had all sorts of terrain from long grass to cobblestones, and covered some of the best scenery imaginable - I particularly enjoyed running through Clare College! It was a fair bit shy of ten kilometres according to my Garmin - and if it was ten kilometres, then it was a surprising PB! - but then it's a fund-raising event, not a serious race, so that really didn't trouble me, and the atmosphere was super-relaxed and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and made some money for a very good cause. What's not to like? Date of review: October 18, 2009
In short: Great scenery, and turned out to be a fast course In full: For a race that was new to Cambridge and had only been allowed in the city at short notice this was well organised. Typical of a cancer research run it had a good communal atmosphere.
I was initially friustrated as due to the city / college route it had narrow sections and pedestrians / cyclists to navigate. But once it came back onto Jesus Green the rest of the course was flat and spaced out on grass. I posted my best time for about 3 years.
As usual it was well organised, maybe a bot more water on route would have been one extra needed.
Would definately do again - despite the cold early start! Date of review: October 18, 2009
