In short: Much improved route, but that was the only improvement.
In full: I'll start on the positives. The route was a tremendous improvement on last year. However it was not flat/undulating and I feel for for any poor soul who had not hill trained prior to attempting this course.
The water stations were shambolic..It was stated on the web site that bottled water would be supplied. It wasn't. At the second water station at 6/7 miles, they had nearly run out, which means that those at the back would have missed out and they would have been most in need. Moreover everyone had to queue in order to get any water at all as only 2 people were manning the station. Things weren't much better at the other water station at the 10 mile point.
I'll re-iterate what others have said regarding the goody bag. Rubbish. Again it stated on the website that finishers prizes were a medal and a T shirt. No t shirts were distributed and the medal was poor quality. To be honest I don't really care, but it made the cost of particpating in the event unjustified, and those who don't race regularly must have felt ripped off.
If the event organisers want this to be a success in the future, and it has real potential, they really need to get their act together.

In short: Hills, Hills, Hills
In full: Great course, did i mention the hills!!!!! All the marshalls, apart from those at about 4.5mile (once we'd finished the 1st climb, were miserable and most weren't even watching the runners, water stations pretty poorly organised. Great scenery once out of the city centre. Goody bag was really poor (tech t-shirt would have been better than a medal). However, will definately do this race next year. Should consider asking local running clubs to be marshalls as they would be more organised and enthusiastic.

In short: Much improved route on last year
In full: The route was a massive improvement on last year - of course there were hills but they were worth it. I enjoyed the views and the mix of hills more than I thought I would.
On a negative point though, water stations were very poor. Unprepared (had to queue!) and cups only. The race info clearly stated it would be bottles. This is unfair because some people prepare their race accordingly. You should provide what you say you will provide. Thankfully I had a bottle with me but I would have been very disappointed if I hadn't.

In short: Great Scenery, Locals Support in Villages Brilliant, 4 Brutal Hills, Organisation Hmm
In full: Now Then.

As this was my first half marathon i thought i would get clued up and I had an Idea that the bio flat/undulating was a stretch. But seriously which genius decided to put a 1:5 King of the Mountain Challenge at 11 Miles. I was ticking over for my target time then I just died and never quite got my rhythm back.
Scenery was amazing and the locals particularly between 3 & 6 miles where the long climb was. Well Done.
Organisation at the finish was poor, no water station for finishers, I had to blag one from the goody bag people. The Goody Bag considering this was a City Council organised run was frankly crap, some of the village / school organised fun runs have done better. One must assume my £15 went on Road Closures.

Despite the Gripes, my over-riding feeling was pride in finishing my First Half Marathon and thats the most important thing.

In short: tough but enjoyable....
In full: a tough but enjyable race, weather was perfect and being Yorkshire it was never going to be flat which made it challenging although the king/queen of the mountain bit was brutal after 10 miles. Only complaint was the goody bag - there was nothing good about that bag, very poor. A T-Shirt would have been good and something with sugar, not this low calorie/no sugar nonsense.

In short: Cracking route (very tough!!!) - bad organisation
In full: My 2nd run in Bradford and i was pleasantly surprised at the scenary! It was soon out of the building site (city centre) and out into the countryside. The hills were brutal and should not have been decribed as flat/undulating. The finish in the park was great however I cut off the corner as i followed a couple of guys infront and we all went the wrong way. No way I was turning round though as it was totally unclear and only saved a few seconds. Poor goody bag but then you cant have everything. Will be back in 2011!

In short: Enjoyable race despite some not so pleasant views, only other comment would be around the mile marking it was not good and could be improved upon. Nice medal at the end though and will be back again next year.
