In short: Well organised with great goodies and a medal at the end. Thanks to all the friendly marshalls ona cold foggy day. In full: Really well organised with friendly marshalls and great goodies at the end: bananas, bars, milkshakes, water and medal. Organised warm-up and free enegy gels. Mixed abilities and great atmosphere. Course starts and finishes on common and takes in local roads and Wimbledon Village. Downhill section in first half, uphill in second half makes it possible PB. In short: Needs more marshals at finish for front runners In full: Pros: - For the most part the race was well sign posted even though there were long stretches with no marshals. -Route well suited for PB, slightly undulating but mostly flat -cheap - for the money I would have expected no more.
Cons: - Atrocious marshalling at finish. Sent wrong way and had to stop completely twice to ask how to get to the end. (Accepted, this was not a problem once there was a stead stream of runners, but strava data for first few finishers shows everyone having to find their own route to the finish) -Stretch up through the high street of Wimbledon village had no marshals. Real pain trying to pass pedestrians who were not aware a race were taking place. Sure it was equally a pain for pedestrians as well being beset by angry sweaty runners. Marshalling and communication would have solved this for both parties. Date of review: November 27, 2015
In short: A great job putting this on in heavy rain In full: This is the third event I've run with energised sports and I've enjoyed them all. Friendly organisers and plenty of marshals, lots of whom really do give out that extra encouragement to gee you along. I obviously had a different experience to a couple of the comments on here because I finished today thinking what a fantastic job they'd done in appalling conditions. In short: Sure , Ill be back In full: Overall it was nicely organized. There was a lot of crossing of roads , but the marshals were on hand and very helpful. Running through Wimbledon high street was a bit strange as the footpaths were narrow and by 10am on a Sunday there were a lot of people about , sitting outside eating breakfast. The pack was well strung out by the first time we ran through so it wasn’t an issue. The hill ( twice , once for each lap ) , was a killer . It’s a long slow climb for 1+ K . The only criticism I have is around the last few K on the course . It was very confusing , you start off on a 3 lap of the course ( which panicked me , I thought I’d missed a turn somewhere and was doomed to run a 30K ) . I’ll be entering again next year , however with the hill it may not have a strong PB potential. Date of review: March 17, 2014
In short: Graet organization In full: On the whole it was a great race and very well organized. The marhsalls were amazing - they carried me thru especially the lad at 8 Miles mark. Nice medal and loads of goodies. Times were given straight away and exact distance of 13.1 according to my new Garmin! Well done all! Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: This race is a fake In full: These comments are in relation to the South London 10k. Not the Wimbledon Half Marathon. This Wimbledon Half Marathon has never been run before and they are using other peoples comments to legitimise a race. Date of review: December 4, 2013
In short: Great race and would definitely run again. In full: Well organised and lots of freebies. Roads aren't closed and so this is worth a mention - there were a few irate motorists as might be expected. Running around Wimbledon and London in general is always lovely though. One big hill - down and then up but easily a site for a PB. I got one as it happens! Date of review: November 24, 2013
