In short: A Gem In full: Truely ace race - had every surface bar snow & ice. Set-up was great too, had a huge marquee, food & drink and a high tech sports shop (even had a £5 voucher in the goody bag). What's fab for me is that it's easy to get to and shockingly good value. In short: As happy as a pig in **** In full: A shorter Sodbury slog but with more obstacles thrown in. Organisation was if they had been doing it for years so hats off to runaround sports & top barn for that. Mix of everything & lots of smiling faces. I was thinking the obstacle cousre at the beginning was short & was expecting it to be straight forward after. I was wrong there. Well done all Date of review: December 1, 2009

In short: Mud, water, mud, hay bales, mud, scramble nets, mud, oh and more mud ! In full: What a race ! It had a bit of everything and I think everybody really enjoyed it. The organisation was faultless and the course well thought out to ensure no queues at the stiles and hay bales. Being vertically challenged, I must say a big thank you to the kind gentleman who helped me through the "soup and croutons" when I panicked after the water came up around my neck !! If I had any gripe, it would be that a rope was put though that section just to grab hold of, but I guess the heavy rains had made the water higher than originally planned. Don't enter this race if you don't like mud !! Thanks again Runaround - see you next year !! Date of review: November 30, 2009

In short: mad, bad and dangerously fun In full: A crazy cross country with all manner of obstacles and no shortage of mud and water with plenty of runnable sections between. Very well marshalled and organised, generous goody bag, good facilities, welcoming atmosphere for all abilities. I predict that this race will become an off road classic. Unforgettable instruction from one of the marshals "turn left into the mud pit". The inflatable children's toys in one of the streams was a nice touch. Well done Runaround and Top Barn. In short: Well organised, well marshalled and well muddy!! In full: Think 'Suicide Six, think 'Sodbury Slog', compress them in a zip file, open it up and out comes the 'Beastly Feast'! This event has the potential to achieve the cult status of the aforementioned races, although I suspect most participants considered this to be an endurance event, rather than a 'normal' race, in which the object was to arrive back at the finish with both shoes still on their feet. The obstacles were certainly challenging, particularly wading down the stream in what for me was chest-deep water in places, but I guess that the recent heavy rainfall increased the depth of the water-crossing beyond the course planner's anticipation. The general organisation and marshalling was faultless so from me it's definitely a 10/10 at the first attempt. My only negative would be that in my opinion this is not really an event suitable for beginners to this type of challenge, but for the die-hard offroaders, it doesn't get any better! In short: Mud, blood, scramble nets, haystacks and ICE COLD WATER In full: Awesome fun race. Think "ToughGuy"s little brother, but without the ridiculous price tag!!! Date of review: November 29, 2009
