In short: Great First Race In full: This was my first ever race so I didn't really know what to expect. All the marshals were very helpful and informative and the scenery is just lovely. Due to a technical glitch there was no on-site timings available and the finishing line clock was non functioning but this was out of the organisers hands I'm led to believe. In short: Great course & Very Well Marshalled, In full: This race had plenty of helpful and supportive marshalls to direct you firstly into the car park, and every turn around the course. It is a relatively flat course, apart from 2 hills. 1 long steady one at around 2.5km, and then much steeper but thankfully shorter one around the 7km mark.
Medal and T-shirt received at the finish (but no fruit as advised on the runnersworld site).
Only grumble is that they could have done with opening the other toilets next to the car park, as the only only toilets they had open were in a changing room, and there were no urinals (only proper toilets), so the queue for the mens was quite long when all we wanted to do was unzip, splash and dash. In short: Excellent organisation, mildly challenging course In full: Second time round for me. Enjoy this race as it is so well organised and the course has 2 hills (1 steep; 1 gradual climb) to make it mildly challenging for me. Beat my time from last year so very happy.
HQ is very good for runners nd supporters. Not sure there were portal oops but enough greenery around for the lads to relieve themselves!
Nice t shirt, medal and water at the finish line. Nice feel good race and crowd. Marshals on the main road again did superbly when we were leaving in the busy London Road.
Well done to all. Date of review: September 15, 2013
In short: Well organised In full: That long slow climb from 2-3km can catch you out but I was prepared thanks to reviews, the steep climb at 8km caught a few people out but at least the rest of the way is downhill or flat! Very well marshalled from the car parks to out on the roads and a nice change to actually being able to hear the PA. My only peeve was that neither drinks station was sign posted on the road beforehand. I know they were listed on the information but you don't always remember that kind of thing while on the run. Overall an interesting picturesque race that does challenge, but won't kill you! Date of review: September 16, 2012
In short: Excellent race, course, organisation In full: First time running this race and was very impressed. The course is flattish with 2 climbs: long gradual climb at 3Km and steeper shorter hill at 8Km. Thanks to earlier RW reviews I was prepared for those! There are also a few downhill sections - one is a very long one which even became quite steep(!) after the 5km mark just before the 2nd water station!
Nice singlet at the end with water bottle and medal. No goody bag but this race is for charity and the entry fee is quite cheap so not too fussed.
Very well organised. Plenty of signage to get to the race plenty of parking; quiet marshalls; well organised water stations. 2 marshalls did a great job marshalling cars out of the carpark and stopping cars on a busy London Road!
In short: Good race, nice scenery, well organised In full: Nice course around the Kent countryside, mainly flat with a couple of minor hills offset by some longer downhill sections. Good marshalling. Caters for a broad range of runners from experienced to newbies, inexpensive and it's for charity. No complaints. Good chance of a PB, unless your calf goes into spasm on the downhill. Thanks to St Johns for finding me some ice from Mr Whippy!! Date of review: September 20, 2011
