In short: Usual mix of pros and cons low key race In full: This was the third time I've participated in the Battersea Love Run 10k. Each year there are some things that work well (this year the timing chips, t-shirts and quick post race text with times) and others that work less well (no baggage storage, lousy tannoy, odd distance markers, only using half of Battersea Park so laps were increased) that spring to mind.
The organisers can't do anything about the weather (this year was good) but Battersea Park offers good PB potential and I've always considered it a nice location to run in - I do the Santa Run, Ormonde St Childrens Festival and Trees for Cities most years, also held in B.P. I'd like to know why this year the Love Run lap route was restricted to half the park?
Anyway, not offering storage facilities (attributed by organisers to a police request) forces participants to either drive, have spectators mind their gear, dump and hope or just not turn up. Judging by the low turn out, combined with it not being the cheapest race - as another reviewer pointed out, perhaps it's been credit crunched - leaves me wondering if this event wasn't for a good cause, how would it differ from me driving to BP, parking and running myself?
Sorry if that sounds churlish but there you go. Date of review: March 2, 2010

In short: Second time I've run this, hoped they'd have improved on last year... but no In full: Lvely flat course, very nice people, great atmosphere but again bo bag storage and yes, unless you live next door or have a friend prepared to stand in the freezing cold to hold your bag you're a bit stuffed.
I didn't quite understand the Lap1 2.5 K, Lap 2 5k Lap, Lap 3 7.5k to then run past the same marker for another quarter of a lap??? to 10k? had it suddenly shrunk since laps 1-3? very strange and sadly after last years confusion over the distance I would have thought this would have been sorted.
What happened to the meddal? for £25 even a teeny one would have been great.
Would love to do this one again but the organisation does put me off. Date of review: February 15, 2010

In short: Fast, flat and for a great cause In full: Really enjoyed this race - nice friendly atmosphere, easy and cheap to park and plenty of toilets if you walked a bit further away from the porta-loos and used the park ones. The course was a bit boring by the 4th lap but was very flat and fast and I got a PB so was very pleased, even though the course was a bit long (6.35miles!)
Goodie bag and t-shirt and great to get a text with my time before I even got to the car!
It was expensive but was all for a good cause and would do it again. Date of review: February 15, 2010

In full: Four extremely dull laps of a section of Battersea Park; no individual km markers; no baggage store. Couldn't hear a word said by the man starting the race (his loud speaker technique was somewhat lacking!)
I do realise this race is organised by a charity but it was expensive and you got very little for your money. I don't understand how it's ok to say there's no baggage storage. What are you supposed to do with your keys, phone, cash, Oyster, warm clothing - all things you need to get to the race unless you drive there; live next door; or have a friend standing around waiting for you?
I've done this race in the past (a few years ago) but I wouldn't do it again. Date of review: February 15, 2010
