In short: Potential but work needed
In full: I enjoyed the different terrain but it was definitely a short course - 2.86 miles on my Garmin and marshalls missing at crucial points of the race. Having to wait over a minute at the gate for the train to pass is really not ideal either. A fairly poor one saved by nice scenery and glorious weather. Saw a lot of other runners being told to carry on instead of stop and vice versa. Noisy organisers dogs at the start were an absolute pain - leave them at home next time.

In short: un organised
In full: I was disappointed in this race. For £17 I expected more than a cheap medal and a start and finish line flag, Ive paid a lot less but got more from other races. There was no course layout on the back of the entry form which would have helped with the confusion of the route, I am not one of the ipod runners mentioned, but the announcement of the course was done without a microphone and I was stood at the back. I did not see any km markers except for the 1 and 2 km which made it difficult to judge my timimgs and the few marshalls that were around had no idea either! (but were all supportive and friendly) I too doubt the distance as I beat my pb by 10 mins!!! and didnt feel I ran at my best. I doubt I will use Ultra Marathon again.

In full: I entered this event after having entered the Pumpkin Run last year also orgainised by Ultramarathon, which incidently I have entered again this year and will still be attending.
I found the figure of 8 course easy to navigate. I ran the 10k so just ran the course twice as instructed by the marshal that started the race.I was aware of people around me messing with their ipods so no wonder others didnt hear the instructions.
I completed the course in a good time,my Garmin fore runner confirmed I had completed a 10k course. As for the entry fee I thought £17 quite reasonable, the orgainisers have to pay the venues for allowing them to hold the event on their premises, medals, marshals etc, I ve paid much more for other events. I also found the parking to be reasonable, you expect to have to pay for parking whenever you run in an organised event, again I have paid more than £2 to park for a day.So thank you Ultramarathon for an enjoyable run.. see you on the 31st !!

In short: I enjoyed it
In full: I live in Corby and wanted to find a local run that would welcome a novice. I had run the British 10k and BUPA 10,000 in London and loved them.
I'm amazed at some of the feedback on here. This race was great fun; I love Wicksteed and avoided the parking charge by parking outside but £2 is not steep and gives a car load entry to all the parks facilities for the day. My kids love the swings, slides and the old steam trains.
Organisation was good and I thought the course was well marked. My Iphone app registered that i'd run 6.3 miles in the 10k which was 2 laps of the figure 8 course so I guess one lasp on the 5k would have shown 3.15 miles and my time was within a minute of my British 10k time so I was ok with the course. I did see several people deliberately taking shortcuts and failing to hear the marshalls instructions but the 'deaf' ones were ipod runners so what do they expect?!
To the organisers I'd say ban ipods from your future races and try to find some livelier marshalls but certainly no major gripes. In fact the race I had has made me sign up for the Pumpkin Run at Stanwick on 31st October - I just hope I win the pumpkin and don't run like one!

In short: Potential to be a very good race just minor adjustment needed . well worth doing
In full: I really enjoyed this race ,i found the marshalls friendly and encouraging but would be nice to see a few more .I found the course interesting and easy to follow and only had one point of confusion which was soon sorted by a marshell .As for the distance i followed each sign and found the course slightly less than 10km but nearer 10k than 9k. Overall i really enjoyed it and hope they can make them few changes to make it even better for next year when i will defently be back to beat my time .

In short: Agree with above. Poor organisation and marshalling. Not sure if course was 10k.

In short: What a shame - this could have been a fabulous 10K with the setting but very poor marshalling, an inaccurately measured course and extremely expensive entry fee spoilt it all

In short: Nice circuit run but who knew what was going on
In full: Ran the 5km and enjoyed the circuit , of on and off road and good scenery and support But like everyone else have a few grips.

.Distance how far was it? i came in first in 5km and got told to carry on , so about a km further decided to head back and relised i had finished earlier and i dont think it was 5km!
.marshalls , going round the fields , just put markers out on corners to say run round them , as no one knew to go through middle or to edges!

I think we a few adjudments could be a good race

In short: £17 plus £2 parking for a poorly organised 10K race
In full: £17 plus £2 parking for a poorly organised 10K race. Marshalls didn't know which way runners were supposed to go, some areas not even marshalled. (i got lost and some people in the park had to show me where to go) no marshalls in the far fields so didn't know if meant to run to far corner or straight across. Some people ran too far, some people didn't run far enough. My time for 10k on my stop watch was 45 minutes but according to their website it was 54 minutes. I heard this race got a bad review last time and now i know why. Was going to run more races organised by ultramarathon (pumpkin and santa) but now have second thoughts.

In short: Shambles....no idea how far I eventually ran in the end!
In full: What a shambles, organised chaos doesn't even come close! Worst part was when some runners had to stop to wait for the train to go past and then wait for the gate to be opened!
I asked one marshall where I was in terms of distance and she had no idea...some people went round too many times and some not enough. The organisers seemed more interested in their dog which was going bananas most of the time!
Will not be back!
