In short: Nicely organised, low key, friendly, nice course too!
In full: Really enjoyed this. Everything about it said the organisers cared, perhaps with the exception of the goody bag (water and t shirt only). Be nice to have more next time, even a packet of wine gums! Glorious, glorious weather!

In short: Very friendly atmosphere, great people, undulating course, quite warm this year!
In full: Undulating course which in the unseasonably warm weather was a little challenging after about 9 miles. Very friendly people, great atmosphere, the marshalls were excellent. Finished off the day with a bacon bap, not bad at all!!!!

In short: Nice warm up race for VLM
In full: Not too challenging a course but enough gradual inclines to keep it interesting. As others have said a low key but a very friendly race.

In short: Not hugely scenic, but pleasant enough. Decent people. Some Busy roads
In full: Good VLM warm-up. Low-key. Undulating, but nothing terrible. Plenty of water stations for a hot March day. Some sections on main roads, but well marshalled. Could have done with more loos, but there isn't an event in the country one couldn't say that about. The drink and a T-shirt at the end is all one needs. A perfectly decent race.

In short: Well organised, with clear markings. This was a low key event - with few spectators and quite a thinly spread field. Deceptively hilly, with some long climbs at a low gradient

In short: Second half much harder than the first
In full: My first HM so wasn't really sure what to expect. Started at the back of the field of 440-ish and quickly found that most of the field disappeared into the distance, very few back-of-the-pack plodders. The first half of the race is fine, once out of town there is nice scenery and all fairly flat. The second half is much harder, the long uphill incline from mile 9 to 11 is a sod, especially as you can see the road climbing ahead of you for about a mile. Was running on my own for quite a while, only about 5 other runners anywhere near me. Organisation was good but be aware that most of this race is run along country roads with no footpaths and roads are not closed. Marshals at strategic points. Very few spectators, especially at the finish as most people had gone home already. Finished in the last 20 with a sub-2:30 time so not really a race for slower runners. Not a bad race by any means, and the spectators that were there were very enthusiastic.

In short: Good day. Great weather, and a p.b!
In full: My first half marathon, so didn't know what to expect!

After reading last years reviews about the mile makers, I was abit anxious as was using this for my pace. They seemed ok, mile 10 to 11 are nasty a slow drag up hill. I think I used the expression FFS when I came round the bend and saw it.

I managed 1:22 on my first half so I don't know it it's quick or average but it wasn't too bad. Thanks!
