In short: Good event but be careful of the heat
In full: It's a half marathon in July so you can't blame the set-up for the heat. If you don't like running in hot weather then don't enter. I enjoyed the challenge and the course itself was surprisingly rural (surprising considering my preconceptions that is). The atmosphere was great (more people come out in the summer) and it was over early enough to get back home, have a big lunch and then sit back and enjoy the World Cup Final.

In short: Full of hills
In full: Lots of ups and downs as you run through town and countryside. Very friendly.

In short: 10 mile hill not needed
In full: the course was great two things, the 10 mile hill Gore Hil was a killer, no point demoralizing people that far into the race, and the last kilo seemed very cercirtuetous, twisting round the park with complex roped off sections etc, with a last sprint in on hte actual track all added to slight exasperation as once in sight of the park all thoughts were on stopping

In short: Course changed and much tougher than in previous years - still a favorite
In full: Added hills and the somewhat protracted ending have this a tougher race than in previous years and slightly longer than 13.1m. One rather steep hill (but mercifully short!) knocked out a few, so completion times were fairly poor this time around.

In short: Thank goodness for the clouds
In full: I'd never done this race before so can't compare with the previous course. It seemed OK to me, the only difficult hill was at mile 10. That was the only hill more that I saw more than a small number of people walking up - I finished just in the top half of the field.

Being in the middle of July heat is likely to be an issue, so thanks to the organisers for the 09:00 start. In fact the clouds came over to make the race far cooler than had seemed likely at one time.

The organisation seemed great to me so many thanks for that. My only criticism is that I'd have preferred bottles of water to cups. No doubt views differ on that.

The parking was great, and is needed for people who come from more than a few miles, since public transport is not easy for a 09:00 start.

Well done Dartford Harriers please keep it up!

In short: An extra hill in 2010. Hard work but fun and rewarning
In full: First thing to say is you're NOT running round the docks or industrial estates here. This is a nice run down pleasent country lanes for the most part.

This is a very hilly course with three steep hills (3mile, 7mile and 10 mile) and one longer less steep drag (5mile). Its tough.

In 2010 the course changed to this format with an extra hill at 7 miles and the last hill, at 10 miles, still the worst, swapping to the road from the park.

I'm a 2:15 ish runner but with the extra hill even slower this year.

Slight critisim is the busy road at the start is not completely closed to traffic so us slower runners had to cope with, admittedly slow, traffic till we turned off to face the first hill. After which the roads are so quiet or you've thinned out suffiently for this not to be a problem.

Marshalling was very good and nearly all encouraging. Plenty of drink stops, (cups of water, one or two stations with sponges) and even a couple households set up with sprinklers.

Anyway slightly disjointed review but there you go. Basically pleasent scenary, good atmosphere and tough hilly course.

In short: Great race - well done!
In full: A really well organised event which the organisers had clearly planned out very carefully. If you don't like hills don't do it but there's no where flat round here anyway (ok Paddock Wood, but that's it). See you again next year.

In short: Challenging to say the least
In full: A real challenge this year with the hill at Gore Road. I knew it would be tough and it did not disappoint!! Marshalls were good and kept you going. No doubt will be back again next year.

In short: why change the course and put in extra hills
In full: did this last year and enjoyed it not so this i understand there was a reason for gore road hill being used as darenth park had an event on also but also additional hill at gills road and the seemingly endless run around central park dartford harriers please revert back to the old route not much to show other than a pants medal why put water sations at the top of hills and dont think there was enough in that heat bottles of water would b better will do again but this race was not as good 4 sure

In short: Once again, wonderful weather and organisation
In full: The crowds and water stations were very supportive, weel done. The sprinklers and youngsters helping as well made the day. Dartford used to known for it's novel memorabilia, shame about the pony medal for the second year in a row (sort it out please)
