In short: Friendly locals and great marshalls In full: Everyone involved were great the water guys were brilliant. I must admit I really didnt like running on open roads especially A5 however that was my problem not the organisers. Best of luck for future events x Date of review: October 3, 2010
In short: a very enjoyable and memorable day In full: This was my 1st race and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I ran the 10k and set myself a PB 47:30 minutes. Now I've got the bug big time and ready for my next race!!!! Date of review: October 1, 2010
In short: Good but could be better In full: Quite well organised; easy to find, registration was painless. Got on bus to start of the half marathon having confirmed with organiser that bags should be left on the bus. Turned out they shouldn't have been and could have done without the stress of running the half marathon not knowing whether my bag was going to make it to the end. Medal was nice but would prefer something that had the event and date on it. Could do with more places to sit down after the race as there was only the cafe and I didn't want to sit next to someone eating a smelly burger and chips. Date of review: September 30, 2010
In short: Beautiful scenery, very encouraging locals, big hill at the end! In full: This was my first marathon and I really enjoyed it until the uphill stretch at the end which I was rather demoralised by. It was a beautiful clear day and there were great views of the snowdonia mountains, which I found very sustaining. Shame that they're behind you on that last bit!
The event seemed well organised and people along the route were very friendly and encouraging. The only downside for me was the medal - it's not really one for the display cabinet and I'd quite like people to know I've completed a marathon!
In short: Have done this race three times (did not do it in 2009) In full: I have done this three times in the past 2007 /2008 and this year. The race itself is challenging and rewarding to the fact that you have completed it, as it can be hilly in places and the last three miles are difficult. In the past you received a medal with a stamp on it to say it is the Anglesy Marathon this year totally blank you weren't given a T shirt which they also did in 2008 along with the medal. No showers and also no soup for the finishers in which I was looking forward to after a hard 26 miles. As for the race itself it is very good with lots of water stations and encouragement given from the local villages' when you pass through. A very small field of runners so it can get lonly along the way if you are on your own.I would do this race again but lets have a few things better at the finish.
In short: Hilly but fantastic for those with family supporters. In full: Did the half last year and came back to complete my FIRST full marathon here this year. It is hilly, and it is a small race. But when you find someone to run with on the route they are very friendly. And because at some point you may not be able to see other people it spurs you on to cling onto anyone you meet for support / to chat too. Lots of water / energy drink stations. Bit disappointed with the medal but hey ho. I personally really really enjoyed it. I'm still smiling from the thought of crossing that finish line in well under my 5hr target. In short: Sound as a pound from start to finish. In full: A very well organised event. Ran the marathon and support along the route was great from bystanders and marshalls alike. Even got followed for the last 10 mile by a vicar in a car!!! So suppose God helped me to my 3:48 "cheers mate". Loads of water/energy stops. Agree the medal should have had your race stamped on it, but thats just being picky. Will be back without a doubt. Date of review: September 28, 2010
