In short: good especially if you're premium club runner In full: Good course, properly marshalled. Undulating, worst of hills at 7-8 mile mark - nothing serious for the experienced but challenging otherwise. I was disappointed that a block of slower runners went down on the records as 'unknown' (despite times properly recorded on the day) and the organisers ran out of medals. Also drinks stations ran out of water. Sorry but not good enough! Date of review: August 11, 2011
In short: Good to see the Lions continuing with the race In full: Good to see this race being continued by the Lions. Its a nice route with enough challenge to make you think (and sweat!) The marshalls were well placed and encouraging and the smattering of local support was encouraging.
Keep up the good work Lions! Date of review: August 19, 2010
In short: Lions have done us proud. In full: What the Lions have done well *Charged a fair price *Not messed about with the route *Taken onboard feedback and moved the Troed y rharn water station *Good number of water stations *The prize giving at the end *Nice tee shirt
What needs to be improved *Finishers medals shouldn't say fun run I didn't run 2 mile with the 6 year olds *The stadium announcer needs to have some knowledge of local runners and vests. *Publicity needs to be widespread and accurate. Looking at the results I have been selected for the East Wales Championships, however looking at the EW website the series 10 mile road race is the Elan Valley 10 not Brecon 10. All the publicity advertised it being a EW Champs race, a bit of false advertising there! Numbers seem to be down on previous years there was 250 runners this year I'm sure there has been close to 400 in previous years. *Official write up in the Brecon and Radnor didn't mention any of the Brecon or local runners.
In short: Great run through a rural setting but beware the big climb towards the end In full: I really enjoyed this race, not so much of a fun run as nearly everyone seemed to be attached to a running club. A quick look around revealed lots of fit looking people in club vests not the usual assortment of non runners raising money for charity or in fancy dress. I trained hard for the race and it payed off with a good time but it's not a race to be underestimated; there is a lot of down hill at the start but a nasty climb towards the end which is punishing when you don't know that its coming or if under prepared. The organisation was flawless and all officials were friendly and welcoming. I would certainly recommend this race but take it seriously and train for it as its overall a very fast race. Well done to the organisers Date of review: August 3, 2010
