In short: Well organised-though last turn needs to be clearer ! In full: Well organised, plenty drinks, 2 x very steep hills that are negotiated twice!Short stretch of busy road that was ok.The last turn into the clay pits needs to be more clearly marked - lot of runners missed it/off course here. In short: I love this race as beat a 5-year standing PB :) In full: This will always be special as I knocked over 5 minutes off my half-marathon time from 2006. It's not hilly .. if you're used to Stainland hills (Yorkshire). I recently did Great Langdale Half so by comparison this was flat!! I like the smaller races and this was well organised and well marshalled. The locals that came out to support us were brilliant. My only suggestion for improvement would be if there was any way to get to the finish without having to face into the leaving traffic. Anyways, a great race which I'd recommend to all. And hats off to the marathon runners for going round twice!! Date of review: October 17, 2011

In short: Great day; well-organized race; a bit tougher than the advertized 'undulating!' In full: Most of the course is indeed undulating, but the big climb up through Chudleigh (twice) made it hilly to my mind. PB therefore unlikely unless, like me, it's your first 26.2. Nevertheless, a very good event and some good views when you get to the top. Despite some of the route being on busy A-roads the traffic isn't really an issue. If I fancy the challenge, I'll be back for next year. Date of review: October 17, 2011

In short: Challenging but worthwhile In full: My first marathon so a bit daunting to begin with however all the competitors and marshals were very friendly so soon got into my stride. With a bit of research the hills should not come as a surprise to anyone and, as I’d built them up to be monsters in my head, were actually quite manageable in comparison. As mentioned on previous reviews you can find yourself running on your own once the half marathon has split off but in my experience these instances were generally short lived. I would do it again.

In short: Enjoyable and worth the long trip In full: Perfect weather, a course that kept you interested, and well signed and marshalled.
These smaller events seem to suit me better. Friendly organising team, a good trickle of supporters sprinkled around the course, sociable runners, and a two lapped course where the runners were able to run there own races without being hindered by large numbers of others.
Once the half marathoners split around 11 miles, you were suddenly on your own, so I would suggest that some marathon experience is required to give you the confidence to complete the distance. However, some hill-work would be of benefit as the course is undulating in parts with a tricky hill at 6 miles and 18 miles and a nasty bump when you take that left turn at 11 miles and 24 miles. You will also have the nice manageable downhills to undo the damage.
A little off the beaten track, but one I would certainly do again.
Thanks to everyone behind this event. Date of review: October 16, 2011

Hills made it interesting, and the weather was ideal. Great atmosphere all the way round. Big thankyou to the organisers and the supporters !! Date of review: October 16, 2011

In short: Well Organised. Tough course. In full: Three races, so organisation has to be good and it was, apart from the start of half. Shame the prize giving was attended by so few, not that this will ever trouble me. Good event though. Date of review: October 25, 2010
