In short: Great setting, lovely race In full: First race back after 3 years out due to illness. Well organised, set in lovely grounds. One thing to be aware of - the start is a long way from the car park/registration so arrive in plenty of time to allow for this - I didn't realise the distance and held the start up for a couple of mins, though fortunately everyone was very nice about it when I apologised but I was mortified.
Good atmosphere, marshalls equally encouraging to everyone from the fastest to those like me who were plodding away at the back. Added bonus of spectators cheering you on who happened to be visiting the Abbey on a very warm, sunny evening.
Pretty good for beginners/returners in terms of flatness - only one sticky hill but you do get to go up it twice.
Definitely recommended, well done Redhill Road Runners! Date of review: July 27, 2013
In short: Great race in a lovely setting In full: Really enjoyed this as a short and sweet Friday evening run. One request to the organisers though - there were a lot of supporters present, who surely would have bought tea/coffee/cans whilst waiting. Just my other half's minor gripe. Don't let that that detract from a great event though. Big thanks to all the marshalls - your encouragement was very welcome. Date of review: August 30, 2009
In short: friendly fast paced race In full: only my second race so very nervous, everybody very friendly and the Marshall's were very encouraging, i was near the back and they kept me going, overall a nice way to spend a friday evening, will do it next year. Date of review: August 22, 2008
In short: Thank you for a well organised race that suits all In full: I ran this race today for the first time. I should say I am an experienced runner having done 10 full marathons plus including the south downs way in 96'. But I have not ran for 10 years and wanted something open to everyone to get outside and to get off my treadmill (bought 6 weeks ago) and back into real running. This was well orginised, easy to find and friendly. There where runners of all abilities and suited me brilliantly. I managed a slow 30 mins (which I am happy with given my current fitness) but if I'd been a 40 min runner I would have found good support too. Fast runners got praise just the same.
Friendly race and actually is suitable for all, I was sceptical and was worried about the pace but overall a nice break back into running.
(next time I'll be at the front lol)
Can I get my fitness back to 10 years ago:- London Marathon 96 & 98 (3.58) South Downs Way trial 96 (80 mile)(21 hours) Sheffield Marathon Twice 96 & 97 (1.37) Sleaford Half (1.32) Woodhall Spa Twice (1.36) Newark 3 times 94 +(1.32)
In short: a very nice run In full: me and a friend from work did this run. The grounds are lovely. Supports welcome and they get to hang around the lake which is nice. Date of review: September 17, 2004
