In short: Hard course, lovely scenery
In full: Just ran the Half marathon yesterday (2013). Positives - beautiful cliff top views and scenery, friendly organisers and marshalls, for a good cause, challenging but excellent route, friendly atmosphere. Negatives - No good if you want a PB, poor organisation in parts (small signs and not enough marshalls led to me going the wrong way on 3 occasions, luckily the runner behind me knew the route and shouted to tell me). All in all a good race though that I would do again.

In short: Fantastic, but very challenging run
In full: The weather was very against us with the wind determined to get you over the cliff tops, but very well organised, really nice route, though not for the faint-hearted. Really looking forward to next year, and improving my time/place!

In short: Tough, scenic keep your wits about you, mainly off road running but very friendly.
In full: First Half Marathon for a long time, and what a step up from 10km! Course is very scenic and 95% off road, but the run back along the coastal path is very very tough. Some savage down hill sections and even more savage back up the steps, need to be careful with your footing but still makes for an interesting run. Marshalls all very friendly, and helpful. My only gripe was the lack of results/times, just for interest and to gauge my fitness/improvement for next time. hopefully back next year

In short: What goes down must go up .. and then down and up again
In full: Was really disappointed to miss this last year when the kids got chickenpox the week before the race! A great race, had that small, well organised and friendly feel to it, almost wanted to stop for a chat at the water stations! Just one niggle - where are the results? Can't find them anywhere...

In short: Tough but non-competetive, non-clubby and great flapjacks
In full: I prefer this type of run rather than a Brass Monkey style clubby PB charged dull affair. Who cares who wins or what time you get. You know whether you've put the effort in or not and does it matter? Not a jot when you have a beautifully scenic route, friendly runners and organisers and flapjack! No t-shirt which was a bonus as I've got a drawer full of them that I don't want! Knowing that some of your entry fee goes to a good cause rather than a naff shirt or meadal is great. On the run you have to watch your footing in a few places and the wind in the face was a bit harsh on the cliff tops but it all made for a very satisfying finish with a warm reception from the organisers. Good job all involved and thank you.

In short: Hard but brilliant
In full: New route from last year with more on the coast & less on disused railway, i.e. more hills!? Absolutley fabulous race no good for PBs but the scenery/atmosphere well worth it, plenty of water and well deserved tea & flapjack at Village Hall at finish. I took a wrong turn near the end (Station Rd) so ended up doing 13.5 miles so lost some time and position, others did same apparently so my only gripe is that a marshall or an arrow at that point would have been useful? . The steps at Cloughton & Hayburn Wyke were brutal and my calves still ache 2 days later but I will be back next year, fabulous, a race that deserves more popularity. Well done all

In short: Great but hard and very friendly.
In full: This is a wonderful half marathon.

It is all off road and follows the disused railway and the North Yorkshire Coastal Path, the views from which are stunning. It is pretty tough and there are some serious slopes. The conditions underfoot are fine for trainers, but trail shoes could be beter after any rain.

A small, honest, friendly and well run event.
